Its essentially Hunting Triad, except one of the creatures casted is a 2/1 flyer and all the tokens can become monstrous when Murkfiend Liege is in the battlefield. A very good card indeed.
Is there a reason the cost isn't simply listed as 1 green, 1 blue, 2 colorless? That would make it less complicated.

In a mono-green deck, you can use this card to create 2 tokens even if you don't have blue mana to spend.
Also, putting Followed Footsteps on the original gives you 2 tokens per turn.

Or, even if you're playing G/U, you can still use it when you need to and lack the blue mana.

Really nice card. I am glad to have played long enough to see certain creatures types grow into families of multiple good cards. Snakes are definately one of those creature types. When I first started we just had River Boa, (I know there were probably some other good snakes, but basically he was it) then we were given Mystic Snake. Now you could easily build a snake based deck and it would be pretty good.

Hmm... So it's like 2GU cast, with evoke 3G?

I think this ability is more for the sake of Limited. However, flexibility is never a bad thing!
A great card in a confusion in the ranks deck. Just stack the abilities so that the confusion in the ranks trigger resolves first, and don't pay blue mana. You steal their three best creatures and they get 2 1/1s and have to sacrifice the viper as soon as they get it.
