I love this card's art. It's pretty playable, too, with madness, reanimation, hellbent, or some masochistic black deck.

Of course you can make use of cards with Madness like Basking Rootwalla, reanimate discarded cards or profit from those which have an effect while in the graveyard such as Bridge from Below or Incarnations.
But three mana and being forced to discard no less than three cards nontheless seems a bit expensive, though. For one or two mana i'd have considered playing this card. But for three mana you normally won't at least be able to make good use of Madness cards.

Also heavily featured in the Leonidas vs Xerxes Magic match.

Black's version of Vision Skeins.

This is intended for Hellbent decks, which tend to burn through their hand quite early. In such a deck, it's fairly easy to play this when you have no other cards (or even one or two other cards) while your opponent has a lot more, and it will also allow you to benefit from Hellbent effects.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that, even though this lacks the Rakdos watermark, this card is meant for Rakdos decks. Get hellbent, draw this, pay {2}{B}, they discard three.

Remember, you don't HAVE to discard three if you don't have three to discard. Given the 3 cost, should be great in an agro deck of 1 cost creatures, creatures like Priest of Gix (who'll cast and then allow you to cast this.)

Also keep in mind that Dark Ritual is an easy 2 for 1 (or worse) fairly often, so being able to make up for spending all those cards early by costing the opponent what remains of their hand is pretty neato cheato.

Is this superior to Last Rites for hellbent mechanics? I'm thinking yes, since the other requires cards in your hand to do anything.

Dream Salvage anyone ?

As I am a bad person, I use this card in Four Card Blind because it pretty much guarantees a win on the play. Another perfect example of why symmetrical effects are never really symmetrical.

This card is better once you ARE hellbent, but last rites would be better for GETTING hellbent. You can discard any number of cards (so you can get hellbent no matter what), and instead of your opponent keeping their best cards, they keep their worst cards (assuming they have any left).

This card is a staple in zombie horde decks because it massively disrupts the players. So devastating when you've played your first 3 turns, and you're down to around 4 cards in hand, and then this is the first card off the top.

This is the only card in magic that does what it does. A few thoughts, since I've built a craploads of decks around using this card:

IT NAILS EVERY SINGLE OPPONENT
IT DISCARDS THREE CARDS
IT EMPTIES YOUR HAND (EVERY TIME)

One With Nothing is a potent effect for the decks that need it, although it's not worth it at sorcery speed (Putrid Imps is better). Delirium Skeins is a One With Nothing with card advantage built in. Rather than being a one-of combo piece, it's become MASSIVE hand disruption. The distance between two and three is so great in magic that you really have no idea until you've played a deck built around this card. At the very absolute least, you're going to empty half of your opponent's hand. At the most, you simply floor it into nothing.

I've been playing a lot of 3-player matches recently and found that my discard deck just didn't have enough disruption. Sure, Hymn to Tourach is great, but it only hits one player at a time - you run out of gas too fast with this method of attack.

No more! I burn through my hand fast enough that discarding whatever cards remain in my hand is worth making my opponents discard a good chunk of theirs. Puts them that much closer to being in Quest for the Nihil Stone / Shrieking Affliction / The Rack range.

I'm a sucker for symmetrical effects like this. Also sick with Geth's Grimoire.
