This is probably the best Nephilim. Give it a Whispersilk Cloak and you're unstoppable!

What happens if you whispersilk cloak and then they play Wrath of God? I don't think it's unstoppable then :O

Well actually since its a mix of many colors, you can play shield of the oversoul on it, make it 5/5, use flying for evasion, and its indestructible.

Shield of the Oversoul is a good play. I'd probably use this with Jund Devour creatures.

@ cats_and_me, Earnest Fellowship wouldn't work, this card is part white, so giving it pro white would disenchant it. besides, why would it not be able to block anymore if it was some how enchanted?

@ Volcre, why would whisper silk protect if from wrath? it only gives it shroud and unblock able. wrath is a nuke effect, so it would hit it regardless sense it doesn't target.

@bijart_dauth: Earnest Fellowship is a global enchantment, it wouldn't disenchant itself because it doesn't go directly onto the Nephilim. Therefore, it essentailly becomes a blue creatuer with Intimidate; nothing but blue and colorless creatures could block it.
And the Wispersilk vs WoG statement was clearly sarcastic; Volcre was pointing out that good or not, WoG is everyone's default answer to anything with shroud ever.

Run this alongside sickening shoal in your vomit theme deck.

How the hell is this not legendary? I demand it be remade ad a legend so it can be my EDH general!

Awesome synergy with Earnest Fellowship, which makes this creature unblockable most of the time.. Yeah, it can't block most creatures anymore, but it creates lots of colorless creature token that ~can~ be declared as blockers! :) Also interesting synergy with Fervent Charge, which turns this creature into a 5/5 attacker that has to be blocked or creates lots of 3/3 attackers for the next turn..

Slap this guy on a Soul Foundry. Suddenly his four colour mana cost becomes 4 colourless. And having multiple on the field would double, triple, etc. the amount of tokens you get, which is always nice.
I play him in my monoblack Chittering Rats /Soul foundry deck, and it's always a laugh when he hits the field.

Interesting, costs four different colours of mana to get in, yet he produces colourless tokens.....

@NoobOfLore: White is secondary for token production alongside green, and green often has "lands matter" mechanics.

EDH with Reaper King as a general, if you have conspiracy out with scarecrow chosen, then you would have atleast 5 vindicate triggers... this is 5/5 in my book because I love tokens and this is just a bomb if it hits.

What's so not blue? A relentless generator of 1/1 Sand tokens is so not blue.

I know that before wizards put tokens in booster packs they had them for magic online. What was this one's like?

My local EDH 'collective' has more or less decided that Nephilim are allowed as Generals. I've had a deck with this guy in the works for a while, but never really got it off the ground because I didn't know how people would react. Time to get this baby updated and get it to work!

The desert theme ("Dune Brood" and Sand tokens) is because it lacks blue ^_^
Not sure how obvious that is.
Makes me want to brew a desert/arid theme deck with these colours.
For instance, cards like Topan Ascetic that feature desert in the background :)
Insects, mummified zombies, scorpions...

It reminds me of Hazezon Tamar, which explains the RedGreenWhite... Not sure about the Black though. Like the other Nephilim, it should have been legendary. Would make an excellent token swarm commander, as the only color missing is the one that doesn't really care about tokens anyway.

@The_cheat420...I agree 100% all the nephilim would've made phenominal commanders for EDH. I'm pretty sure they'd be the only 4 color legends (can't think of any others off the top of my head). They were released before the format hit.

There are 2 or 3 I'd consider making.

Maybe, since the new set is supposedly going back to the Ravnica block, they'll reprint them as legends.

There are no four colored commanders. Maybe we should point this out to Wizards?

Make sure that you always attack with your Sand tokens, just so that when they fall in combat, you can say that they will be back, and in greater numbers.

Well I have to agree with the card designers that this card is not blue in flavor or function.
It's a lot of things, but not blue.

Personally, it mostly looks like red/black to me, perhaps with a tad of green.
Not seeing the white.

@Boneclub: thanks for that. I was speaking from a purely flavor standpoint, I do see where it gets the colors from a mechanics standpoint.

Hazezon!? What happened to you, man?

I told you not to fool around with that Black mana.

Part 1/5

The Nephilim are Crazy. Personally, I think that we need someone willing to be a Rebel and a Revolutionary in R&D, or the Rules Team, or the DCI, or the Commander Council (whatever they call themselves officially, they should start calling themselves the Commander Council). Who determines and writes the Errata? we need them too.

The Nephilim should be reprinted, given Errata, and become LEGENDARY, and they ALSO deserve to get subtypes--- they are way beyond being "Warriors" or "Wizards" though--- something more like "Beast" or "Nightmare" or "Giant" or "Spirit" or "Titan"-- something that will let them have a little bit more cohesiveness to their identity, something to pull them closer to the rest of the Creatures of the Game, while retaining their Uniqueness and Specialness as much as possible. The Eldrazi are an excellent Tribe to compare them to, because we likely won't see any more Eldrazi, but IF we did, and if R&D chose to let some of them have Subtypes, we know what kinds of subtypes we'd want to see: Nightmares, Horrors, and Giants would be appropriate, and wouldn't feel like they're ''ruining'' how Unique and Weird and Special being an Eldrazi is.

Pretty lovely with Earnest Fellowship. Protection from every colour except blue probably means he'll be unblockable (and how often does blue block, anyway?) letting you pour out the sand tokens again and again. Meanwhile, they are colourless, letting them chump-block anything your opponent tries to counterattack with.

Hazezon Tamar seems to be referenced by this nephilim, (?) I guess.

Try to generate colorless non-spirit, non-sliver, non-eldrazi tokens that aren't artifacts with another card...go ahead...I am waiting.
