The only deserts in print are Desert. I can't even find evidence that Changelings are considered deserts...

That's true, the abilities on this card are purely driven by flavor, however outside of Arabian Nights this card is Gray Ogre, rendering it pretty useless...

As Roxolan said, it's strictly better than a Gray Ogre, or a Raging Bull for that matter. I can imagine that in 1994, it was actually okay. But, obviously, it's not 1994 any more.

Ah ha ha... Arabian Nights... It loves its little Deserts, doesn't it?
Needless to say, this would only see play today in "that guy" 's Arabian Nights theme deck. You know, the one he plays as if it were competitive and giggles every time he uses Island of Wak-Wak.

They need to do an AN sequel set with "desert" as a whole subtype with multiple kinds of damage-dealing lands.

There's your basic landwalk. Then there's your slightly more specific nonbasic landwalk on Dryad Sophisticate and Trailblazer's Boots. Narrowing it down even more, we get Legendary Landwalk, and the 'unblockable versus artifact lands' of Tanglewalker. You'd think it couldn't get any more absurd, but you'd be wrong.
I would like to do Desert Nomads one better:
Snobbish Goat
Creature - Goat
Snobbish Goat is unblockable as long as defending player controls a Mountain from the Arabian Nights expansion.

I like this card in that it's extremely flavorful. And, as 3 CMC 2/2 landwalkers go, this one isn't all that bad, it's just very specific. Niche card.
