Thats far too expensive for only one discard, dredge effect or not.

don't you hate it when good art is wasted on bad cards?

At all before me:
You get to choose any card in their hand. Not even Thoughtseize lets you do that. I agree with metalevolence that {1}{B}{B} might be a better choice, given it does have Dredge, but c'mon. ANY CARD. Not nonland, noncreature, nonplaneswalker. Four mana for their win condition? Not a bad bet, I'd say.

@Lateralis0ne i agree dude. if i could use a card like this to kill one of my friends eldrazi before he summons it, or even better Iona, Shield of Emeria, i would be MORE than happy to pay 4 mana for that.
4 mana for universal, reusable discard, and discard tech for dredge.
It's easy to play in Golgari (dredge), and since it has dredge, you can use it as many times as you want.

Decent card because you're picking any card.
Compare with coercion. One more mana gets you dredgey dredgingtons.

The problem is because of its CMC, it often too late to remove a key card from your opponent hand.
Its the price to be able to remove anything and be able to use it again and again.

It's usable, but the 4 mana does hurt it pretty bad against any non-control deck. Most control decks can't exile it however and against them it's golden.
That said, usually duress is better in those situations as you either drop their counter and play what you wanted or they have to counter your discard. Unmask does most of this card's effect but can be played for free.
It might, however, be nice to stick one or two of these in your Legacy deck for the sake of having options. If they *really* have to draw out grave-hate for this guy and/or Darkblast then your 2-3 deckslots cost them 3-4 deckslots that aren't terrible useful. Let's face it, black dredge cards are almost all hosers
and that's what this is good at. If they have to use counterspell after counterspell on this guy then you'll eventually nab their win-con; especially if mixed with standard discard spells.

-Big creatures - Stinkweed imp
-Small creatures - Darkblast
-Tokens - Necroplasm
-Control - nightmare void
