I think he's an AWESOME card, low casting cost and sweet ability , if you have 5 or more other spirits in the deck plus hes a flyer

Yet another mechanic I'm not a fan of: Spirit and Arcane...

I really like this card. At the moment I'm putting together a grixisdeck with this. I'm going to use rusalkas to sacrifice my enemy's creatures. :)

the fact it doesn't give them haste provides a problem, but a 3/3 flyer for 2RR is definetly above the curve for your average red card, and you can remove blockers.
Oh, and kirins have ultra-cool art too.

I think his ability is mainly defensive, use instant Arcanes to grab potential attackers and give yourself blockers. Unfortunately he's red so defense is probably not going to be a rout to victory.

Definitely the coolest kirin regardless of whether he's the best. Any 4 cost flier is welcome in red too. Especially if those efficient stats.

"Aaaalways, I wanna bee with you, and make believe with you, and live in Harmony Harmony oooh love!"
(Also, decent in spirit arcane decks, though a little to specific on costs.)

If I Splice onto Arcane, does that add to the converted mana cost?
For example, if I cast an Arcane spell with cmc 1 (like Lava Spike) and Splice onto Arcane paying an additonal 2 mana (for say Glacial Ray's effect), is that spells cmc 1 or 3?

Okay found the answer, figure I will add it in case anyone else wonders:
502.40c The spell has the characteristics of the main spell, plus the text boxes of each of the spliced cards. The spell doesn’t gain any other characteristics (name, mana cost, color, supertypes, types, subtypes, etc.) of the spliced cards.

I wonder how many players attacked with creatures gained through his pseudo-Act of Treason effect in casual games.

Blocking your opponents with their own creatures is cool, but not very red, overall. Bad design.

I like combining this care with something like Blood Rites, provided that I have the manna, I can my opponents creatures and sacrifice their heavy hitters to do damage to them.

Use Ooze Garden to destroy their creature and make some permanent ones for you

I bet if this only had flying, it would be rated higher. If a Phantom Monster is too good to reprint, the Roc with an ability to remove blockers is amazing.

Lest we forget this is a 4 drop 3/3 flyer in red with a useful type and a useable ability. Just looking at that alone makes him a powerhouse for saviors of kamigawa, or as I like to call it "Lil homelands"

Apparently Discord found his way into MTG. I am totally ok with this.
