On the contrary, I'd say strictly BETTER than Earthquake. One mana more for instant speed, yes please.

So much better than earthquake. Instant speed for one more mana. This card has time and time again either deflected an enemy attack in multiplayer or just downright ended the game. I use it in a red white deck with lots of fliers and some effects like Purity. This has got to be one of the best red cards in the ENTIRE game.

You can really build around this card, which I like. Now people all want to use No-brainer cards like Bonfire of the Damned but if you were skilled player and learned to build a deck with fliers, having a Faultline was quite the control card.
I've cast this card for x = 30 and then copied it ... lulzy. This Earthquake and Molten Disaster are all pretty much the same card. Earthquake is the cheapest, this is an instant and Molten Disaster they can't respond to. Molten Disaster is probably the nastiest of the 3 but, this is nice because it's instant speed and instant speed sweepers are really good, you can hold mana and kill the creatures they would be playing after the effect during enter combat or eot. Not much else to say. Rolling Earthquake is the best of this type of effect (it kills fliers too) but, that card is stupid expensive. Also, chain reaction and blasphemous act are better if you just want to blow up the world. This is better for OTK shenannigans.

Its basically an instant version of earthquake. It just does one less damage in order to pay for the ability to use it whenever the hell you want.
