I ran it in a deck with megrim to have the opponent toss his hand while doing a potential 14 damage to his dome, and then refilling my hand with skeletal scrying. It was a nice combo that worked well.
The really amazing thing about this guy is the artwork, though...could Kev Walker be a better artist? I don't think it's even possible.
One of those wonderful cards that make your opponents groan as it hits the table.

Run it in your barren glory deck to increase your chances of drawing a hand-emptier. Just renounce this guy and everything else (except of course barren glory) and hey presto you win next upkeep... assuming you don't lose while you're wide open.

If I get this card out with a sac engine and my EDH general, Sheoldred, Whispering One, I get to troll the game. Nothing makes everyone else love you more than recurring, nigh-uncounterable, instant speed, mass discard!

Sigh...would be nice in a hellbent deck, if hellbent was even worth using.
Red and White aren't too good at making much headway in card advantage of any kind other than Wrathing. I mean ok there are options, but not REALLY GOOD ones like in Green and Blue (and fine, Black, but there are limits to how much space you can devote to your Black cards) which are just sick at it.
White and Black happen to be GREAT at using stuff in your graveyard, and Red happens to be pretty good at putting stuff there if your opponents won't oblige-
More importantly, R/B/W is pretty aggressive/proactive in it's approach, and a global Mind Twist threat goes a long way towards Dealing With Tings. Although you can blow more stuff up in these colors than in any others, a LOT of your power is locked at Sorcery speed and the Attack step, rendering you less able to really be as responsive as you'd like. Mind Twist EVERYONE will fix 'em good. :)
Might not be a Demon, but it's not like you can REALLY play a good Kaalia deck with NOTHING you can play for 5 or 6 turns because your general got predictably axed the first time you summoned her and all your creatures cost more than 4 mana. You need chumps and pawns to do grunt work for you, and this guy's one of your BEST options.
