when i take a look at the artwork, i always think this spirit would have flying.

Me too! But then you could argue that all the spirits should have flying.
This was the first card to make me lose a game. It was my first game ever. :(

This probably one of my favorite cards of all time. The whole bleedout strategy this guy enables is quite fun to execute. As new sets are released there are new spirits for this guy to play with. One of favorite interactions is that his Soulshift 2 ability can bring back a Nameless Inversion; pretty cool eh?

This boy is the cornerstone of my Ghost deck but I love his Ghost dad stuff too.

This is one of the cornerstones of my spirit deck, not only does he give me good lifegain and damage early in the game, but he's the #1 target on the field, over the cards I use for my combos (they don't look like a big deal until I play every creature in my deck at once with them).

this guy actually has a very useful ability, a decent sized body, and a relatively cheap cost (when compared to all the other spirits) definitely my favorite spirit

I love this too. I'm a little sad that I only have one and not a playset!

In a black green spirit deck this guy murders. Get one or two of these guys out, wait till iname life aspect hits the feild, play iname death aspect. Put everything in your graveyard, then sacrifice iname life aspect. BOOM all your spirits hit the field and if the initial life loss isn't enough to end your opponent the fact that you have 803450834508345 spirits out might pose a problem for them.

For its effect to trigger, one must 'play' a spirit or arcane spell.

one of the better spirits from the cursed kamigawa block, why couldnt they make the other spirits also so useful...

A really nice spirit. Nets you some serious siphon in the right deck, and as mentioned, his soulshift with nameless inversion is pretty scary!

Surprisingly, a playable Soulshifter! And with nice Hildebrandt art. Now if it had some kind of evasion (at least fear, but the picture looks like it's flying) it would be a staple Spirit.

Hold the phone. This is a spirit from Kamigawa. It has Soulshift. It isn't legendary.
Why doesn't it suck? What's going on? Did R&D miss one?

Fun little guy. Lots of little spirits work with him, and Death Denied turns this guy's natural card advantage into even more card advantage. Ashen-Skin Zubera, devouring greed, and crypt ghast all work well with him and eachother (crypt ghast as fuel for his bleed, and lots of mana to fuel a T5 Greed into Denied into a spirit or two coming back onto the board; making for massive lifeloss + card advantage on a good draw.)
As pointed out, Nameless Inversion really works well with this guy. To finish the deck, Tortured Soul makes a good one drop, Nether Traitor makes a good two-drop and recurring beater, and Grafted Wargear makes the mix of your weaker and unblockable spirits very potent (as well as this guy.) Anyone big enough can also utilize Nameless Inversion to add damage, and Grafted is a sorcery speed sac-outlet for Zubera, getting Traitors back, activating soulshift, etc..
