I like cards like this. That is, cards that let you play your opponents' spells.

I like how it's sacrifice ability means other copies of this Legendary aren't dead weight in your hand.

@ GrimjawxRULES: Kappas are mythical Japanese creatures - they're weird turtle-goblin things. And they're scared off by cucumbers.

I'm happy the Kappa are all gone. Good riddance. It just means my Shirikodama is safe.

I wonder if anyone's ever squeezed a little more mileage out of their Storm spell (e.g. Brain Freeze) with this.
It's a pity you have to sacrifice the Shell.

Good riddance. No more trying to pull out your intestines while you swim.

Also, 'countering' a spell for 3 colorless every turn is nice.

The way this works, is that when you cast another Shell of the Last Kappa, the legendary rule kicks in and destroy both. This is because the game sees two last shells as a paradox and just ***s itself.

It's a pity that your opponent just will never target you with anything while you can activate the Shell. The only way I see this working is Shimmer Myr or redirecting something off one of your creatures onto you...

Last shell of the koopa! Kick it at your opponents with an ogre or something!

If you target Ghostfire with this, you get Ghost in the Shell.

but then they're just not going to target you?

Actually, your opponent may target you with a spell eventually. Don't assume that your opponent will simply never cast a spell at you as long as you've got a card like the Shell of the Last Kappa on the table (or a similar one like Reflecting Mirror).

When your opponent has two spells in hand that he wants to hit you with (or you THINK he does), things get interesting. He may decide to cast the weak one first, hoping you'll steal it with the Shell, and then whallop you with the second. BUT you might let the first one through, figuring he's got a nastier spell waiting for you. But then you just let him get a freebie on you... so he could actually do a double-bluff and cast the more powerful spell first, figuring you'll let that through because you're thinking he's got an even meaner spell just waiting. Which spell will you stop with the Shell? Who will prevail as you and your opponent attempt to out-bluff each other? Yes, this is the sort of thing that made Magic: the Gathering a great game!

Fun card, no doubt. Wish I could try it out on Cockatrice...

I'm ***ed off that Wizards poorly designed this card. It's a legendary artifact that can play any opponents instant or sorcery spell that targets you for 9 mana and 2 taps. I really wish wizards would reprint this with better wording. Even Null Brooch is better than this. If It said like, Exile target spell that targets you or any permanent you control that would be a crap ton better for a legendary artifact. Or Exile target spell that targets a player. So for 9 mana you could cast your opponents Time Warp That he casted on himself. that would be worth my time.

9 mana and several conditions just to cast a spell that might never come? There's a reason this is a penny bin rare. If your opponent even had a spell they're just going to wait until you tap out.

@quach_attack Kappas aren't scared off by cucumbers, they love cucumbers. It's their second favorite food, right behind human children.
