To have a good laugh, that's all this is good for.
At night he perfected his aim... I wonder how skillful his aim was before he practiced. Something like: "3Tap: Takeno's Cavalry deals 1 damage to target attacking or blocking Aven Trooper." Stay in the night so nobody has to see you again.

Everyone who gives this card a bad grade is forgetting that this card is a 1/1 with bushido 1 which is pretty good for... uh 1 mana.

Remind me again how samurai are supposed to be cool.

This Guy Can't Even Kill A Storm Crow Or a Chimney Imp Even If They Were Already Death.
By the way, I hate this card so much, I actually burned one copy.

The art is nice. That's something to cheer about, right? Right?

This card is bad and you should feel bad, Wizards!

Hideously overcosted, like much of Kamigawa. But hey, it's a fine two drop. If it was a two drop...

Should at LEAST have Bushido 2.

Should cost half as much. Then it wouldn't cause a furious outburst when getting one in a booster pack. =P

This whole set is defined by weak, overpriced creatures and overblown phrases like "spiderwebs by starlight." This fellow, then, is the representative of Kamigawa.

Awful barely begins to describe this.

I hate how bushido was costed as though the creature had +1/+1 all the time per instance of Bushido.

This card is kind of depressing. Any of you read the Kamigawa novels? This card's flavor is pretty awesome. Why does it have to be so damn terrible? In fact, that's the one part that's off. Takeno had extremely well trained men. A 1/1? Get out of here with that.

As a 3/3 he'd be playable, with an ability that is pretty marginal these days. The same would be true if he cost 1W, and stayed as a 1/1. Considering the importance of spirits in his block's makeup, I'd even accept 2W as a cost, or 2/2 as his P/T.

But right now, he's jut no good. I rated it a 1.5/5 because he does at least have some good synergy with other cards due to his Samurai type.

Real lost chance here. First, there are cool ways to use archery mechanics (hi there, Daybreak Ranger). Also, cool art. Finally, mounted samurai should be kickass. Much fail here.

This card is rated lower than Wood Elemental....

At least he isn't as bad as Numai Outcast.

You'd even be better off playing Numai Outcast. This is the worst samurai ever printed, in any game.

Pathetic excuse for a card. Could have easily been 2/2 for WW, or 1/3 for 1W, or any number of feasible combinations. Not good for any format or any kitchen table. Outrageous.

So he's a 4 mana 1/1, has Bushido 1, and can ping a very limited list of creatures? I'm sold!

I gave it a 1 for being not the absolute worst thing I've ever seen
