One of the best Magic cards of all time. Falls slightly behind the Power 9, but still... this effect costs twice as much mana today (think Diabolic Tutor). Wish I could afford it...

What I would give to have been able to play Magic when it was first introduced. I started playing around Mirrodin, and up. But regardless when I began to play, I was raised on the older cards, and I do love them. This is a prime example of why I love playing Vintage/Legacy over Standard. So, this card will remain one of my favorites, I'd love to get an Alpha/Beta one someday.

The most powerful search spell of all time. It even lent its name to the card type - Tutors. The fact that you do not need to show your opponent the card makes it even better, with the ability to pick up anything from a much-needed land, to a combo piece, to a game-winner or a one-of. And since it's so cheap, you might even be able to cast it on the same turn.

The ultimate tutor, two mana for any card in your deck, no other card will ever be printed that approaches this power level...

I wish they would print the new copies of this card with large bold text, just because what it does, and for the cost, is so awsome!

Only comparable card that even came close to this was the Vampiric Tutor, which oddly enough is more expensive.

@SocialExperiment You mean Diabolic Tutor, which apparently you haven't read since it puts it into your hand without revealing.

Far too good. Every black tutor wishes it was this thing.

"Cards like this are evidence, if not proof, that powercreep isn't nearly as severe as people think. The closest you get to this card in Standard right now is Demonic Tutor, which costs more mana and puts the card on top of your library."
Finally: a voice of reason!

It never got better that this, Vampiric came close, but Demonic is still the king.

One of these in mint condition is on sale on eBay for $3,600. Jesus.
@ Request Yeah, no idea what happened there. Either way this card is ridiculous, and any time I hear arguments break out over power creep this card gets cited as evidence that it isn't as bad as they say.

This card is amazing. It's whatever you need it to be, and it's cheap. Quintessential black, and the benchmark for all tutors.

This is an old card before they understood how much this effect should cost. Its clearly overpowered today, so ill give it a .5/5

Love Demonic Tutor! Stacks up to ( and surpasses most) ANY modern card.

One can argue that this is not very in flavor for black. Why? Drawing it inspires hope and rejoicing!

@supermood00d Its effect doesn't fall behind the power 9 in a Vintage Dark Ritual deck. The Demonic Tutor --> Yawgmoth's Will --> Demonic Tutor --> Tendrils of Agony combo has been winning Vintage tournaments for years. Actually, I would argue that in many, perhaps most Vintage decks, Demonic Tutor is a staple no less worthy than the power 9 simply due to the sheer number of 1-ofs these days.

TheWrathofShane, Just because you don't like it doesn't mean its a bad card. Same goes with it being overpowered. Anyway, I like it much more than vampiric tutor. 5/5
