It doesn't unattach when it becomes a creature. It just can't attach.
I don't think there was ever a card that affected events that happened in the past, so this shouldn't either.
Despite that being the logical conclusion of what the card says (as well as its literal meaning as well), because I'm saying this it probably means that every judge ever will overrule you. They really kill any fun a high school level education could give you.

I would totally equip this to my Dancing Scimitar. A sword wielding a sword, how cool is that.

If it becomes a creature, if it was attached to something it will unattach from it. The rules text says "(Equipment that's a creature can't equip a creature.)". So since it becomes a creature, it is no longer attached. At the end of the turn, it won't reattach since you need to actively do that.
Still a very neat card with some interesting possibilites, especially with Doran, The Seige Tower

This item is amazing to equip to my Goblin Gaveleer. Im usually afraid of playing the goblin because it is so easy to take out before he gets pumped. For 2 equip mana, it now has 4/6... and he is now bulky enough for me to pump him full of Piston Sledge's without being afraid of a Lightning Bolt or something similar.. 4/5 because there exists a better option, Slagwurm Armor(although this one rocks!)

They have a ruling about summoning sickness...but not about how the hell my creature's sword coming to life works?

I bet they would have made it a living weapon now.

It unattaches because it stops being an Equipment, not because it becomes a Creature, however, if it would become an Artifact Creature - Equipment, it would unattach because it becomes a creature. Fun card.

I love this with Doran, the Siege Tower. +5/+5 boost to something, or a 5/5 flyer, for super cheaps? Yes please.

Interesting card. You could equip and swing, then morph it into a creature to block with the sword, rinse and repeat.

Ladies and gentlemen do you know what this reminder text means? Mycosynth Lattice + Bludgeon Brawl doesn't let you equip your creatures to your creatures
