Come on, he's a black 3/3 flyer for 3. Sure, he's not great, and Necrogen Scudder is generally better, but ideally this guy should die fast/end the game quick. He would really suck against red burn though.

They very clearly gave it a downside. I can't quite see what upside it has, though. Black has dozens of more efficient suicide critters.

Necrogen Scudder has a rating of almost triple this guy's. That doesn't seem fair, since this guy was basically the Scudder of the first Mirrodin block, and we all know creatures have gotten far stronger over time. Plus, if you play the drake and they bolt it before it hits them, then you've lost less than if you'd played the Scudder.

Necrogen Scudder has a much higher rating because it's much better. You know EXACTLY how much the scudder is going to hurt you for- no more than three. This guy, though, you don't know. Worse case, he can get trapped by a minister of impediments or a pacifism, sit on the field, and quickly kill you. Three spells will get played in no more than two turns anyway.

You guys have never heard of suicide black. You throw this in with Heartless Summoning and just go to town. If it gets stopped by a tap effect or pacifism. You use a sac outlet.

Not completely terrible, a late game 3/3 Flyer just when you need to get over some grounded defences?

Could be useful is a casual 'Suicide Black' deck, although 'Suicide Black' and 'Casual' are almost contradictory terms...

Why the low rating? 3/3 flying for 3, highly splashable, seems solid. The drawback doesnt seem that bad.

This would be the perfect card for a masochistically suicidal player.
As not-so-good as this card is, I just can't help but love it. Cool art, cool name, and he's one of those cards that takes some serious thinking to actually use. 5/5
