I love how this oversized monster can make an advantage out of his disadvantage.

Insanely resilient to targeted removal and direct damage.

Being black is the first step.

Toughness over 3 is the second step.

Proc white is the final step.

Killing this monster is very hard. Playing this in the right deck can actually ensure massive life loss for your opponent while incurring great gains yourself. Either way, this is playable in Suicide-Black type decks.

It's not playable, it's horrible. You will lose 4 life before you can even attack with it, and a Black Sui deck just can't afford to squander life like that. The 'gain 2 life' ability doesn't offset the life loss.

Phyrexian Negator, Phyrexian Scuta, Flesh Reaver, Juzam Djinn, Grinning Demon are all far better. And Tarmogoyf and Tombstalker are on a different level altogether.

Very interesting card no one should underestimate. I can see people makin a deck for him or just tossin' him in their black beatdown

Definitely worth it in the right deck. For example, my Gravepact Thrull deck where I sac my own creatures anyway. Get him out on turn two by sac'ing my Blood Pet and I'll have plenty of time to make up for the life he's costing me.

Or, wait for turn three, playing T1- Deathgreeter; T2- Basal Thrull T3- A second Deathgreeter and this guy. I'll have gained two life already from the Basal Thrull and I'll be gaining 4 life every time any creature goes to the graveyard. Turn 4 would be my Gravepact anyway, which means anything I sac from then on nets me 8+ life (for both my creature and my opponent's). Heck, I may even run Reckless Spite just because it only costs 1 life with this guy out!

looks like something off of an Iron Maiden album cover in foil version.

I like him for multiplayer games. He's with 4 toughness out of lightning bolt range, he is immune to oblivion ring, swords to plowshares and a lot of black removal ("target nonblack creature").

In the worst case you play him, end your turn, lose 4 life, and your opponent kills him. At which point you get 2 life back. Could have been worse. If someone kills him playing mass removal, then you still get a load of life from all those creatures dying with him. And in the best case you get a 4/4 protection white beater for 3 that in addition keeps gaining you life.

Let me see... use him in a furnace celebration deck, with a few Perilous Myr's thrown in as sac bait.

So Beast A Straigh Up Beatstick Great Against O-Ring, Path, StP, Journey. And the art is amazing by the way blacks full of removal you'll get your life back and then Sum! 5/5 His rating should be HIGHer

T1 - Rakdos Cackler
T2 - Oona's Prolwer, attack for 2
T3 - This guy, attack for 5
T4 - Obliterator, attack for 9
T5 - Whatever, attack for 14

While someone is going to insert removal in there, it's 4 efficient beaters and you have to kill two of them by T5. Not hard or impossible, but it's a very steady beatdown strat. Add in a few other small dudes who are efficient to round out the curve and just push push push.

seems pretty solid in SuiBlack. i think i like it more than Flesh Reaver, even though it's one mana more expensive, but that doesnt really matter since Dark Ritual exists.
