too expensive to not be able to win by itself. even with mana accel and a supportive deck, it lacks the power level to truely break through on its own or with friends.

This card is possibly underestimated, but proofs to be actually very powerful in a beast tribal deck.
Consider that having two beast cards in your hand is not such a big deal, and a 4/4 four drop that can support any creature with a +2/+2 buff (including himself to block, or using it as further profit for Contested Cliffs) is an awesome addition.

Seems pretty good in a beast deck... amp it with 2-3 beasts and you can do a Tap: giant growth.

Keep in mind that his second ability isn't linked to the first, I.E. if you have some other ways of getting counters on him *cough Increasing Savagery cough* you can begin moving your buffs all over your creatures.

Amplify creatures have gotten better still with the addition of Proliferate, especially the ones that do something extra with their counters like this guy and Kilnmouth Dragon.

Cystbearer and Spinebiter combo pretty well with this dude. play some style of beast control with those 2 combos, maybe some of the other Thorn Elemental-style abilities to just pump and get through. Gurzigost could be really sweet in that deck, but you're going to have to go full control if you want that many big beasts.
