Only good in a huge multiplayer game and even then, not so much.

poor Mercadian Masques- such a great art, and decent flavor text, utterly and completely Sizzled by the awesome hotness that is Jaya Ballard, Best Red Planeswalker Ever (yes, I AM counting Koth!)
This is one of those pre-Xth Core Set cards that you just HAVE to track down a foil playset of.
a) blackborder cards are better
b) foil cards are better, and do in fact win more games.
c) its a RED DAMAGE SPELL!

Say what you want about the card itself, but this is without a doubt some of the best flavor text in Magic, period. It can work in Mutliplayer, and, in any case, you get massive style points if you throw this down.

I want to like this, but I don't really think burn decks tend to do well in the kinds of multiplayer games that can make use of this.

Slagstorm and Volcanic Fallout are probably the better cards more often than not.
