i am just started playing magic this month and i was wondering if this old version of cards is still allowed to be used, because most of the cards in my deck are old versions.could anyone help me with this question?

Notice that the two characters sitting on the branch are Gerrard Capashen and Squee, Goblin Nabob? I love Weatherlight/ Rath Block. Such lovely storyline connections with the cards.
Also, strictly better than Ironroot Treefolk for the same cost, though there are definitely better choices for 5 mana in green, even if you're playing treefolk tribal. Try:
@rancer: If you're talking about Standard tournaments, which use the most current sets, then you are allowed to use an older card IF it has been reprinted in a Standard-legal set. For example, if you had a Serra Angel from 7th Edition, you would be allowed to use it because Serra Angel was reprinted in Magic 2011, which is a legal set in Standard right now.
At least I THINK that's how it works. If i'm wrong, someone correct me.

Oh man, it's a Phil Foglio Gerrard!
EDIT: Oops, silly me, there's one of those on Recycle, a far more famous card. Oh well.

Once good, but eclipsed by so many better treefolk.

From the look on his face, I wonder if it's just the Ironroot Treefolk that have disturbing mating habits...

There's no way that's Gerrard. It's a black guy! Or maybe Gerrard is like Jesus and Santa Claus. His skin color can be both, and dolls of both are sold side by side in Walgreens.

Magnigoth Treefolk
Weatherseed Treefolk
Yavimaya Ancients
