No offense, but how is this not better than terror in every way?

This is worse than terror because

a.) You have to play it on your turn.
b.) Your opponent can still block and attack with their creature before this takes effect.
c.) Your opponent cannot use Disenchant to protect a creature from Terror.

Yeah, Terror may have a few things on this card, but this has some things terror lacks:
- It can target even a black creature
- it can rid you of an indestructable creature, because the enchanted creature is 'sacrificed'. For me the ups out wiegh the downs a bit. I like a destructive card with optimal possibilities XD

Though it would work to also have a couple Terrors or more...
But now Terror is obsolete with Doom Blade out there!

I like this better than Terror. It's just as cheap, yet can target black/artifact creatures (a big plus) and it can deal with indestructible creatures.

ah, one of my first kill spells. It kind of forces them to attack with it, and it teaches players that it's usually better to play things on their second main phase so that the dying creature can't block.

Wouldn't the flavor fit the Cabal more if it said "Looks GOOD. I don't know if he'll make it through the night"?

Gradius: they left of the part of the flavor text that went *licks lips*

This is not necessarily better or worse than Terror; it's mostly just DIFFERENT. However, the new M10 Doom Blade does practically OBSOLETE Terror.

Lingering Death should be reprinted with a modern border. It deserves it I think.

It's good because you can get rid of a creature even if it's black or/and indestructible. The bad thing is that it allows enough time to not work, I have eliminated this before with Terashi's Grasp.

I like this. Terror, doomblade and the like become dead cards if you're playing against black (Which we do A LOT in my group), this works on all withoutout prot from black, even artifact creatures, blacks, indestructibles and regeneraters. I love playing this while saying "death sentence to this creature, make your last round count". Target specific sacrifice rocks.

This can kill a black creature. Doom blade cannot. This can kill an artifact creature. Go for the throat can not.

only a 2.5 out of 5 because of that.

First:
AXER - Doom Blade does not obsolete Terror for the simple fact that Terror doesn't allow regen. Artifact creatures can be a pain, but in my playgroup, regen is much more prevalent than dangerous artifact creatures. They do do similar things, but I would forever take Terror over Doom Blade any day. Plus, Terror is better named and has better art overall Variable Colorless

Second: This is the third option of the black mage, it's essentially the same thing, but not. A very big difference here is that the creature is sacrificed, not destroyed. This gets around all that stupid indestructible crap that's out now. It also gets around the normal restriction of targeting that black has, meaning it can hit black or artifact creatures along with everything else. The only real downside that this has is two fold - it's delayed long enough that they can still attack with it for one turn and its the same cost as most of blacks key removal.

Grasp of Darkness is better than all four of those in mono-black.

Most creatures you're facing wouldn't be bigger than 4/4.

If it is, it's probably their only creature, in which Innocent Blood or Diabolic/Cruel Edict is better since it gets around protection/shroud. If they have big and small, deal with the smaller first and kill the big, if they have two (or more) big ones, then you want damnation or you're just screwed.

If you're facing blue, Sudden Death is preferred.

Me? I run 4x Grasp and 4x Innocent. Works out a lot better. Targeted kill is overkill 90% of the time.

It's good removal if you're using Mortician Beetle.

Works good with Roo***er Shaman I guess. Or with Vedalken Orrery if you don't want to splash blue.

B/W control with Sun Titan might be fun with this. This is one of those cards I really like, but I just can't use it in good conscience in most decks.

Gets around black and artifact creatures, and indestructible creatures?

Yeah, it's absolute trash compared to Terror, Terror is so unequivocally better than it.

I like it. Cheapest way I've seen so far to induce targeted sacrificing.
More of this at instant speed would the best thing.
