REALLY, YOU GUYS?
Newbs nowadays have no respect for the classics.
And, for all you newfools, I'll tell you: this card is GOOOD.
Seems powercreep has made incoherent 8-year olds out of more than a few.

Also, look at it. LOOK AT IT. That sh*t's a clear 5/5 stars.

I like how interesting this guy is. I shoved one in a loopy blue ninja deck as a nice defender who can jump into the red zone if I can get him through and turn him into something else.

Instead of just berating people for being noobs, I'll explain why this card is good:

1. Even if you just play it face up, not many mono-blue creatures have a staggering 5 toughness for 2 mana. Murmuring Phantasm and Dream Stalker are the only two others I can think of, and both are cards from much later sets. Dream Stalker also has a clause that can make it tough to cast on turn 2 without returning a land to your hand, which is something a blue deck may not want to do. This can stifle big threats and aggressive starts until you have your other defenses in place. This can safely block Giant Solifuge, Boros Reckoner, Wild Nacatl, and many others.

2. When you don't need a blocker and just need another dude, you can play this face down for 3. Damage used the stack back then, so you could optionally put your 2 damage on the stack, before morphing to absorb damage and return to 0/5. With a low morph cost of a single Blue, this meant you could do this on the same turn fairly easily.

3. Unlike other 0/5 defenders, it can morph itself for 3 later in the game and swing for 2 damage. This can be handy if you want to force through a few extra damage, or use tricks like ninjitsu as mentioned by Opine_Fluke. Furthermore, the morphing makes it colorless in case that becomes relevant for some reason.

4. It supports the strategy of morph decks if you have other morphers. Is your opponent blocking your Akroma, Angel of Fury? Or just this lowly wall? Do you have a Meddling Mage out there they are playing right into? Do they dare attack into what could be Brine Elemental or Rockshard Elemental? While you may think this is trivial, it has the added advantage of being able to survive damage that might be fatal to other, more valuable morphers, if you choose to save it at all.

So yes, this is a fine card. I can understand why a 0/5 defender might look unimpressive at first, but playing against this card will teach you some respect for all the utility it provides.
