Six mana. Six... mana.

Why?

Oh. Ver. Costed.

It's not even Limited playable, and that says a lot.

Maybe add it to a...Horcrux deck?

Sweet, this is going right into my Terrible Cards Cube!

I really hope the {5} in the mana cost was a typo.

Probably could have been playable at 2 or even 3 mana. 6 mana is just too much though.

That being said, at least it's still better than Razor Boomerang right? right?

Since Galvanic Arc was knowingly undercosted, this is sadly close to the normal cost. Would have been an aggressively costed green-red card (probably 2RG), but as monored common, this is pretty close. The closest monored equivalent is Arcane Teachings which is an uncommon. I think the lowest it could go is 1RRR, which would ironically be MORE useless for limited play.

I thought this was decent until I noticed it wasn't a 5/5 creature.

Goblin War Paint plus Shock minus Haste is apparently worth six mana.

It's a shame, because the art is rather awesome.

Now if this cost 3 less, we'd be talking.

Disagree! I think this is solidly Limited playable. Maybe not useful, but of note; you can trigger devotion on one creature twice with this card. Still, it's best use is as a weaker FTK Aura version.

So, without checking the current rankings, I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is the worst card in the set. Even the white font lets you choose when it's gone.

Maybe they forgot to make it a cantrip too????

If this cost 4 or 5, I would say it was okay. Maybe even secretly good. It's Shock, it's Giant's Strength, it's a potential heroic trigger. But it's also Red5.

3R would have been right for this card in this limited environment. 5R is just too much.

The bad news is it costs {5}{R}.

There is no good news.

I personally don't see this as that bad of a card, at least in limited.

Like any valuable limited card, this provides multiple effects:

1. Can work as a kill-spell or a burn spell.
2. Boosts your creature.
3. Is an enchantment that can help other enchantment-based spells (Riptide Chimera, Kruphix's Insight, Floodtide Serpent, etc.)
4. Enables Constellation.
5. Enables Heroic.

don't get me wrong: This is FAR too overcosted, but if this card was also a cantrip, I'd expect people to take this early in the draft.

You did it right in Ravnica with Galvanic Arc.

Why did you screw up the mana cost so badly here, Wizards?
This should have had half the cost. 2Red.
It would have been a decent limited pick, and probably even could have found a place in constructed.

Waste of good art and a decent concept.

Ugh, this is even a miss from a flavour perspective, insane mana cost aside.
It seems to be going for "imbued with the power of lightning" but it neither causes lightning-level damage nor does it give the enchanted creature the equivalent power of lightning.
Might as well call it Shock Diadem.
