This is what you do with all the mana generated with Voyaging Satyrs, mana creatures, Nykthos, Xenagos, Kiora's Followers, and/or Karametra's Acolytes. How making 12 12/12s turn five sound?

In the art we can see the hydra standing over a bunch of hydra eggs. Mechanically when you monstrous Hydra Broodmaster you get X X/X hydras (the eggs hatch). I think the message is clear having children makes you a monster.
Journey into Nyx doesn't have a mono-Green Mythic, so how about some really scary Rares? This guy seems totally badass, and will work in a lot of decks with mana ramp.

If you pay 13 mana on its monstrosity ability, you get a 13/13 and 6 6/6 hydra tokens...

Will this be much in competitive play? Probably not. Will this make EDH and kitchen tables quake in fear? Oh hell yes.

@Continue It only has 7 heads. The part in the back you can see just barely is its tail, and it has two arms/legs visible.

I had this at prerelease. One of my opponents looked at the four 4/4 spawns and said "I can't deal with that." before conceding the next turn.

Playing it only on curve without ramping to crazy numbers, this is a 7/7 for 6 that represents a total of 19 power if you monstrous it next turn(3 3/3s and a 10/10). This card is a gamewinner, folks.
One of my favorite hydras so far. Still kinda getting sick of the idea that each "head" is a 1/1 or a +1/+1 counter. Each one is essentially a wurm on its own, it makes no sense for each to be as strong as a squirrel separately.

I love this card, and not just for its functionality. I'm a huge fan of hydras. Now that hydras are making a name for themselves as the iconic big green monsters, they have a lot of ground to cover to catch up with the likes of dragons, demons, and angels in terms of establishing an identity as a major tribe. This is the first card that references the hydra lifecycle by including "baby" hydra tokens.

Since this is called a "broodmaster", I'm assuming that, on Theros, it is the male hydras that take care of the young.

This thing is a casual mana ramp treasure. Don't forget, after you Gelatinous Genesis, your Hydra gets bigger too.
It just needs trample badly. Fortunately we're in green!
However, it needs more...
