Yay, goodbye Seasoned Marshal

Probably the best common white card in M14. Early pick in Limited, maybe even Constructed playable.

Hmm... I wonder why Royal Assassin isn't in M14 :P

Pretty fantastic! The focus on the art is a little in the favor of the big guy, though.

Aww, but I didn't want Alaborn Cavalier to be strictly worse than something! He's just so cool! =(

Well, Alaborn Cavalier and Seasoned Marshal aren't strictly worse since you can tap any creature, not just the ones the defending player controls. This rarely has uses in duels but in multiplayer it may actually matter.

Annoying as hell. A good annoying though, as long as you are using him and not your opponent.

Just here to second B0rb0rkymos. Yes this is completely constructed playable. I've played two prerelease events now where I got two of these in each sealed pool. They do soooooo much work. I'd even go so far as to say it rivals Imposing Sovereign as utility in an aggro deck.

In some formats this isn't strictly better Alaborn Cavalier since the Knight grants style points, this doesn't but it still blows Seasoned Marshal out of the water.

When your the agro deck and always on the attack, this essentially is removal, because your opponent's creatures' value is dependent on their ability to block and trade profitably.

Great for soldier tribals and limited.

This card is so good in M14 Limited, surprised to see this below a 4.0 rating

So, I have this Detain deck in which I run Haazda Snare Squad and it works pretty well with the Detain theme of the deck. But with the release of 2014 came Master of Diversion and I was just wondering which most people think I should run. With HSS you have to pay W to tap while MoD is free. But I love HSS's 4 toughness. So I don't know which is better to use. Any opinions?

Now, which is better: Master Decoy, or this?

There are actually many little reasons why Decoy is better, aside from the CMC.

Although Decoy can't normally attack and tap, it can block and tap. With Vigilance (an ability White is best at giving), you can get around this. Diversion has no other way of tapping.
Decoy doesn't need to attack to use his ability. Diversion has no other means of activating the ability. This can be particularly bad when your opponent has two big creatures versus just one.
Decoy can tap any creature, while Diversion can only tap a creature controlled by the attacked. Can help you when you want something of yours to become tapped/targeted (maybe you have a Yosei, the Morning Star and they're playing Dismiss into Dreams? It could happen...)
Decoy can be useful when you're attacking OR blocking. Diversion only works when you're attacking.
Uhh... Decoy's a soldier while Diversion's a scout.

All in all, both are decent creatures, it's just that Diversion isn't as versatile.

How good is this guy at diversion? So good that for 2 months I didn't even notice him in the picture.
