I don't know where this X-23 business is coming from. She's pretty clearly inspired by Machiko Noguchi from AVP. There's more to the image then just her claw. Which isn't from inside her skin and much more like the predator blade. Along with the Improvised armour and the fact she's Green and a jungle fighter. Its pretty fair to say its a reference to Machiko.
