Not bad. Allows for multi-color Arbor Elfing without the need of $20 shocklands.

This is getting me excited for a "super-gate" in Dragon's Maze.

Definitely not the best of the new gate-interaction cards, but this allows for access to a color on a gate that entered the battlefield on the current term.

Awful.
Gates really needed a strong push to be significant, even in limited. They instead got a crapload of mediocrity. Bummer.

This guy is rated way too low. He's awesome in Limited, he did tons of work for me at the prerelease. :)

The only way the gates will be avenged is if Dragon's Maze they make the card:
Land-Gate
"Tap, Add 1 mana to your mana pool for each gate you control"

EDIT: Well apparently they are making Guildgates the new basic lands for Dragon's Maze. That's acceptable enough for me.

Mana-fixing GOD in limited. Absolutely no worthwhile applications in constructed ever. Torn, but it let me cast Aurelia a turn early at the prerelease, which won me the match, so I'm giving it a 4/5.

Couldn't this at least be 2/2. Gate untapping is far less relevant in limited than arbor elf's ability and there's no other format where gates are played. This guy battling for that elusive 23rd card spot.

Decent (if inconsistent) T2 ramp in limited, while also being a Goblin Piker - value! Has the potential to go explosive with Verdant Haven as well. Today I got to live the dream of

Turn 1: Guildgate
Turn 2: Land, Greenside Watcher
Turn 3: Land, Verdant Haven on guildgate
Turn 4: Gruul Ragebeast

Theoretically, you could untap the guildgate on turn 3, play another Watcher, then play a 9-drop on turn 4.

@Steinhauser

Turn 1: Forest, Arbor Elf
Turn 2: Forest, Elvish Archdruid
Turn 3: Stomping Ground, 3 Arbor Elf, Elvish Visionary, Elvish Archdruid
Turn 4: you have 18 mana.

My standard deck used to have the Greenside Watcher but I found that gates bogged down my hand and made it too slow.

Should have cost 1, and been a 0/2 or 1/1. As is, I wouldn't even play it in a joke dedicated gate deck.

@pedrodyl: I don't think you realize how terribly overpowered that would have been. Cloudpost is already an incredibly powerful card with just itself and Vesuvas. You mean to make a Cloudpost that has tons of creature support and 10 other cards that boost it as opposed to 1? Seems balanced.
