Nice idea. But paying 7 mana and a card to create a 0/1 token that I can sac for one mana ain't worth it.

You're missing the point. You spend a few turns ammassing prisms, likely copying them with rings of brighthearth, then sac 50 of them at once for the lulz. Or hell, mana echoes, march of the machines and intruder alarm.

I hear that in "Rise of the Eldrazi" a mechanic similar to this is going to be implemented: 0/1 tokens that can be saced for mana.

For a fun and casual deck, you may use this card with Conspiracy set to "Prism" creature type and with the eldrazi spawn-making cards. All your tokens can be sacrificed for one mana of any color! It wont be hard to cast the Kaleidoscope and Conspiracy with all the Eldrazi Spawn tokens you have crawling around to start with.

The Origin of the Eldrazi Spawn, although eldrazi spawn create colorless, this is none-the-less the precurser to the whole thing...

On the whole, hate it.

"A pretty toy. Now show me the tactical applications."
I am quite frankly shocked no one has made a sex joke about this card. Too much of a potshot?

It's potential is good with cards like Doubling Season and Parallel lives, along with Rings of Blighthearth and the like.

The flavour text is exactly right. This is just a pretty toy.

Could be useful for some shenanigans involving lots of copying effects, but honestly, there are better ways to play with that sort of thing.

I dig the flavor text, though. And the "play this as a mana source" deal. Ah, nostalgia!

In casual this thing is a lot more powerful than people give it credit for. Toss some mana at it here and there, nobody much cares that you're creating 0/1 creatures. Who's going to waste resources killing them? Nobody. Who's going to wish they had when you sac them to call down a massive, board clearing Comet Storm or similar? Everyone, but then it's too late.
Of course there's the obvious Lord of the Pit and similar upkeep handling and popping out a blocker at instant speed. One facet that is often missed is that the sacrifice for mana does not tap anything, so if you have a couple tokens in play even with all your permanents tapped your opponents have to assume that you can still cast.

Like graey24601 said no one notices 0/1 tokens in casual... Until you use biomass mutation on them and they become 8/8's. Ah what fun.

Conspiracy set to Prism, except it's not a legal choice since the Gatherer doesn't include it as a creature type. I could be wrong though... let's ask FAQ!
