This card is fantastic in so may ways. For one thing, it's not just your plain 'ol Bookworm. No, it's insidious. Once you get over the hilarity of the creature, you may notice that it's a 1/1. Yes, this worm has power. This Bookworm can take down a Goblin or an Elf in a 1 on 1 fight.

Insidious Bookworms: nobody messes with these bad dudes. Nobody. (Note: exception being anyone with 2 or greater toughness.)

Sooku wins at commenting. I was all revved up to post the hilarity of this card myself, but I can't follow that. All I can add is my surprise that this isn't an Un card, or at least hasn't inspired one.

This guy is so insidious, he can take down a Lightning Elemental all by himself.

this beast will strip storm crow right out of your hand if you're not paying attention. However the mighty crow will best it on the field of battle.

random discard at low cost is always good

The wording of this card was so bad that back in the day, i used to think that after this card is put into the graveyard from play you are allowd to use that ability once every turn, thus it would lockdown my opponent everytime he drew. Then i found out later that's not how it works.

Ha Indisious Bookworm, one of my best Casual play memories. It happened a decade ago, I had a discard deck in which I used this as my 1-drop. Somehow, on turn 14, I still had one bookworm alive and made my opponent sacrifice his only creature, Serra Angel, with a Diabolic Edict. The way was clear for the bookworm to strike at the opposition. And strike it did. HOWL FROM BEYOND FOR A 12/1 BOOK WORM FOR THE WIN!

If you're making Worm tribal, it just isn't complete without some INSIDIOUSNESS

Plus I think there aren't enough worms to not have this in it <.<

Three mana for conditional, random discard. It wouldn't be awful in a deck that really took advantage of opponent discard AND sacrificing your own creatures with a LOW mana curve.

Three mana only if you get this haste and its blocked. Mighty if.

This version has the wrong card picture.

Even the Elite Vanguard is no match for the mighty bookworms!

Such an involved card. I would use Gutless Goul to eat this card, making them discard a beefcake. It's so fun to play.

Black cat is better. Better creature type too.

This has to be one of the creatures that would go into a "that makes no bloody sense" Hold the Line deck. "Everyone! Watch out! The 1/1 worm is now as large as Fusion Elemental!"

The card:
Bad
The art:
Someone left a stick on the floor. Moving on...

(EDIT: sadly, this is no longer true).
I honestly can't rate this card. The fact that 33 people have managed a total rating of 3.333 is just too cool.

Also, with quite a reasonable amount of flavor, it takes two little girls to kill one of these.

Memories (queue music) of that first discard deck.
