By the time you've lost five life, you can probably get four back with treshold. Don't forget to sacrifice your land if you do!

The Threshold ability is nice, but the mana ability is counter to the threshold ability, I wouldn't play this at all...there's better lifegain out there, and better choices for white mana...

Would be a decent card if its second ability didn't require threshold.

Wait . . Wizards . . you made a life gain card that would probably damage the player more?

Or, you could just play a plains and not have to lose life at all! imagine that.

There actually exists a deck where this is useful! Play it in a Darien, King of Kjeldor EDH deck.
Then again, there's probably a deck out there somewhere that can use any given card.

I like it. Typically you would Armageddon w/ a Dingus Egg out, sending all lands to the GY taking 2 for each land and subsequently screw yourself. Now, I could cast Reverse Damage, or Circle Of Protection: Artifact or some garbage, right? If it's countered though, S.O.L huh?
Not anymore. If you're behind on life, and your ultimate goal is to possibly cause all involved a heap o' damage, you lose. Well my friends, that's the biggest PITA about Land Destruction. This card allows me to gain 4 life just before resolution of the Armageddon, thus off-setting the damage of up 2 lands going to my GY.

Well... at least it doesn't ETB tapped like a lot of other non-basics do?

Strictly worse than Plains... not entirely true, if you are playing Crucible of Worlds you can set up a sweet combo where you gain 4 life a turn. 4 LIFE! And all it costs you is your land drop each turn you do it and perhaps the respect of everyone you play magic with but... 4 life, man! EVERY turn!

This isnt good in a deck that cares about your life total, but one that cares about actually gaining life. what i mean by this is that this is a pretty good Angelic Accord trigger, or Voracious Wurm pumper. Obviously it's still awful, but its better than 0.5/5 stars. i give it 1.5/5.

What they should have done is had it cost you 1 life as it comes into play, instead of when it's tapped for mana. That would have kept it from being strictly better than a plains, while being usable and making its life-sac ability potentially useful.
