I could swear that's a giant naked mole rat with wings. This artwork is not satisfactory for something named Cursed Monstrosity.

Oh man, this guy is wretched. Really, really bad. Although he has flying, so at least you could get a quick beat in... possibly.

At WHAT point in the history of Magic did R&D feel that a 4/3 flying 5 CMC RARE card need a stiff drawback?!

It's so weird. I got this in a booster, and have tried for a long time to figure out a way to make it do...something. Can't figure it out.

Don't worry, Cursed Monstrosity, I certainly love you more than I love this Swamp. Forget even trying to summon anything better than you, you're my allstar and I'll do everything I can to keep YOU around! Must destroy more Swamps! NO ONE CAN HAVE MY MOLE! *** ALL THE OTHER GUYS IN MY HAND, THIS MOLE IS MY LIFE!

Odyssey had some cool mechanics... but man, did it have a ton of crap rares.

I'm going to call bullsh*t on that thing being able to fly. Those dinky wings could never lift such a fat... um... thing.

Sounds like Norin became a nomad sentry after surviving the apocalypse.

Thing is, I looked at all the other black fliers that cost {4}{B}. None of them are all that good either. Lots of good fliers at {3}{B}{B}, but {4}{B} seems to be a black hole of pitiful creatures. So by comparison, Cursed Monstrosity really isn't that bad.

Run away! It's a piece-of-shit card!

I was going to say, the flavor text doesn't really match the card. It's a naked mole-rat with wings. Not exactly impossible to describe.

Almost usable in sealed or draft, where any flying creature with some power to it is decent. But its drawback is harsh even there (perhaps especially there, where people are more likely to have to resort to that to kill it.)

Still. This thing costs as much as a Sengir Vampire, which is itself a pretty obsolete creature.

If nothing else, I can Rite of Consumption it and sacrifice it that way.

Either way, you're gonna die...uh...whatever you are.

the sad thing is, iff this had allowed any discard it would have been much better. Both easier to use and a combo enabler. Not saying it would have become good but odyssey had a major graveyard theme going on

Obviously, it's cursed with such appearance.

The art is great. The card, sadly, is not.

E: actually, this creature is from the Odyssey novel. It's summoned by a dementia caster (Braids?) to fight Kamahl and Seton in the arena, and it causes lots of damage with teeth, claws, and noxious spores (shown in the art) before Kamahl takes it down with a huge inferno spell. A lot of wasted potential for one of the best-looking monsters in Magic.

This creature clearly suffers from a horrible case of dysentery. Whenever it becomes targeted by anything, it leaks its insides everywhere unless you feed it. Poor thing...
