It cost a little more, but Reverse Damage is a better spell in my opinion. You get clobbered by beefy creatures more often than anyone plays Shivan Meteor.

Excellent against Red decks. Lava axe? Healing axe! Burst Lightning? Healing Lightning! Healing hammer? Healing ball? Healing Meteor??

I once saw someone use Earthquake and then use this as well. 28 life in a 4 player game with 4 mana.

Why is this rated so low? This is one of the best sideboard cards against red. It counters a vast majority of their spells. It even nulls Ball Lightning if it's targeted while it's on the stack. It should not be maindeck--it's useless against blue and white, bad against green, and mediocre against black--but it's a great counter against burn and hasty creatures. Especially the hasty creatures that die after they've been neutered by Hallow.
Do you hate burn decks? Do you hate those reched pyroclasms? Hire Hallow to screw them all up

I like the cost of {W}. Not overpowered, good card all around. As mentioned by others works great against those uncounterable burn spells from red.

This is cheap enough to cast that it would be feasible to play your own Earthquake just for the purpose of casting this to gain a bunch of life. If you didn't need the removal.

@Elysiume
No, this does not work against Ball Lightning, or any other creature with haste. A spell is only a spell while it is on the stack. Once it resolves, if it is a permanent, it enters the battlefield as a new game object distinct from what it was on the stack.

I love this against stuff that deals damage based on the number of things in play, like Pyroclasm. I've also seen people use this with stuff like Hurricane to good effect.

CAn I get this custom printed with a troll face on the dude? Please?
@adinsx3 400.7b Prevention effects that apply to damage from a permanent spell on the stack continue to apply to damage from the permanent that spell becomes.
Prevention effects are one of the exceptions to that rule. And as far as I can tell this is the ONLY card this rule applies to.
