Hmmm... Do I want this or Shriekmaw? Flying or Fear? A Doom Blade or a Terror? Choices, choices... Speaking of choices, this card was a weird choice for new art, but this is the scariest the Hatchling has ever looked.

Ha! the border matched the page color perfectly. It looks like someone cut it off.

Easily the best art for this. I finally know what the hell is going on in this card.

Amazing art! Really trying to sell one of the worst rares (at this point) :P lol

I'd consider the old artwork iconic even though it's not a particularly interesting card for constructed. But this new one is simply amazing, particularly regarding flavor. It looks like it evolved somewhere inside his back and escaped through his throat, ripping his victim's spine out as part of its own eerie body in the progress - that's some gruesome kind of parasite! I didn't even notice the old artwork had a corpse lying around where it hatched from until i compared these two, haha!

Love the new art, but I'm getting kinda sick of seeing this in every damn precon I buy.
Especially in a ninja-themed precon; I get that you're supposed to bounce him for ninjutsu and recast him to abuse his etb ability, but I'd rather leave the nonblack creature destruction to Throat Slitter and recast an Ornithopter or Tormented Soul every turn than keep paying six mana (which you can probably only afford every other turn), especially so late in the game when most decks will have defenses against fliers and his 3 power won't ever actually damage the opponent when I have ninja in my hand.

So, in a fit of boredom a year ago I bought the whole damn Commander lot, and not too long ago grabbed the Night of the Ninja set whilst it was cheap. Three of these guys, huh...
He's surprisingly good though, everything you want in a Ninja deck. Was amazed I'd not thought of it sooner.
What I like most about this art though, is that it clearly is the same creature as in the previous art. That doesn't happen often in mtg. I'd love to see some silly older creatures get really terrifying art.
