WIZARDS! That's a heinous pun. The Latin name of the horse is "equus". So it's literally Aquus Equus.

This isn't really good, but the fact that the image of someone trying to ride a dolphin out of the water won't leave my head now gives this card a 3.5 from me :P

It's a sea pony!

This steed will see plenty of constructed play from this pro. Taking power away is a powerful move, indeed.

Horrible card. I do not get why it's an uncommon. I guess there have to be crappy uncommons too. Four mana for 1/3 is just horrible, and the ability costs far too much mana to be of good use. Even in a draft I'd skip this thing. 0.5

Did it really have to be a tap ability?

For some reason Wizards keeps giving Blue -X/-0 abilities.
Somebody tell them, nobody wants it.
"Did it really have to be a tap ability?" - Second.

I don't see anyone leading this particular horse to water anytime soon.

the background reminds me of simic cards from the original ravnica. Something tells me the Simic keyword in Gatecrash is going to do something with tapping.

I cringe over the fact that this is uncommon.

What happened? Why does it seem like many of the RtR uncommons are worse than commons?

Well, it might be because RtR is a really good set, and bad cards are literally uncommon!

I'm not sure why people is hating on this guy's ability. It's great at what it does, and that's bluffing. If you leave 3 mana open in Blue it prolly means counterspell, but with this guy down things get a lot harder. Your opponent's best bet is to swing and hope that you waste your mana. Of course, if you don't activate this you're telegraphing a counter. Or are you? Tricky.

But yeah, what really sucks is his body. 4 mana for a 1/3 is just baaad. Even at 3 mana it would still be pretty lame. Still, I'll prolly end up playing this because SHOO BE DOO

I predict the Simic ability will be some variant of Twisted Image, or several Simic cards will have that effect. Same goes for Orzhov and the T: Pay 3 life, flip a coin, if you win, gain 6 life. I figure it wil be some kinda reverse bloodthirst.

Comparable to Wilderness Hypnotist, another bafflingly bad card. Here, the initial cost is slightly less prohibitive and we have to pay THREE FRIGGIN MANA to activate this ability, in exchange for being able to target any color creature. GARBAGE. I'm gonna go punch something now.

No it's not Aquus Equus? This is a beast, not a horse and a steed isn't a horse.

Why does this exist? I know that Magic needs bad cards but I thought they had stopped making them quite this bad.

You can tell how many terrible players there are when this card gets the lowest rating in RTR. Don't get me wrong, it's not nearly constructed material, but in draft this thing is ridiculously good. If you curve Centaur Healer into this guy, your opponents can't get in with less than 5 power. That's REALLY GOOD in a format where 5 power is rare and board stalls are very common.

Every time I open a Return to Ravnica booster I pray I don't get one of these things...

4 mana for a 1/3? Already bad...
2(U)(T) = -2/-0? Why does it have to tap for a sub-par ability? What!

I am sick of people commenting on the rarity of a card and why it is too good or bad. I would much rather see bad cards be more rare.

FYI. Common does not equal bad. Rare does not equal good.

It's not that it's an inherently bad card. I can definitely see it being useful. It's just horribly overcosted (both to cast and to use), is all.

Why couldn't they just make the activated ability cost Blue? It would still be far, far from broken.

This is a simic card. The reason it costs so much is that it's versatile!

Make your own creature able to evolve with something weaker than the creature's current power, or mess with your opponent during a combat.

Expensive? Yes. But simic has green for ramping so it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

I would never imagine that there are normal dolphins in ravnica, I wonder about giraffes now....

I think it's a decent card for Limited due to its ability to mitigate double strike damage, especially since those creatures tend to have low starting power. Also bear in mind that not many creatures can swing for 5 damage in this format, so it's a viable stalling tactic if you absolutely need one.

Also, nice catch by Kryptnyt - this is indeed the Staff of Zegon effect!

Obviously, in Constructed this is obviously not going to make many decks, since games are over faster and there is a much bigger field to play with.

This guy got infinitely more playable alongside Evolve cards. That said, he's still crap.

He's got some utility alongside Simic Manipulator

Wow! Even though this is an overpriced card, it works somewhat well with a mid-range Simic deck for casual formats...I mean think about it: ideally, this card can trigger some cheap evolve cards, and with it's overpriced ability, it can maybe push for one, maybe two extra 1/1 counters per a creature? Maybe it isn't an ideal card for most formats, but it's definitely a fun combo card to fill in space, and it's just wierd. 3/5

Casting cost 1BlueBlue. {T}: Target creature gets -3/-0 until end of turn.
Bam! Suddenly he's good! Worthy of being uncommon even. Balanced!

I feel like 'mount' could be a beast etc job, same as soldier or advisor for humanoids. Bit of a missed opportunity there. Though I guess then we might get mount tribal interactions then and possibly have mount decks where flavorfully mounts mount mounts... could get a little... hairy.

willpell: they were saving it for Breaching Hippocamp. But yeah, with Mutavault, we could have had Horse Fish tribal.
