unfortunately he's only 1/1 for 3R, but i like the mechanic. on top of that, creature destruction (rather than doing damage) is quite unusual for red.

it would be a lot better if it cost 1R or if it costed 2R and had haste

The card is bad,but it is not as bad as it looks. Some things people forget: - You can put a counter on a creature in response to the upkeep-trigger of the squad. So that the turn after you play the squad, you can already have two counters on a creature. - If you have several squads in play, and a creature dies by the counters, each squad will trigger for each creature dying that way - One bomb squad kills a creature and deals 4 damage every two turns. Two bomb squads can kill one creature each turn and deal 8 damage each turn. Three bombs quads can kill three creatures each turn, dealing 12 damage each turn.

Yes...he could use haste...but he's still a great card!
Another benefactor from Paradox Haze! Jeez, I love red/blue combos...

Are those the dwarves themselves in the picture? Because they appear to be a rather incompetent demolition team, if so.

Far too slow to have been practical. If you want to kill creatures, just use reds' myriad array of sorcery and instant burn spells. Or better yet, just throw those spells at your opponents' head.

doubling season doesn't work unless you're using it to destroy your own creatures.

@nuibop Wouldn't EVERY red card?

So it kills one creature every other turn? That's actually pretty good.

This card is FUN! I use him in my Red/Blue Proliferate deck, and he usually kills a bunch every turn.

I put this in a R/G proliferate deck. Having one or more of these on the field with a contagion clasp, or even better, contagion engine, as well as seedborn muse or some other creature untap ability, gets out of hand rather quickly. I decided to go R/G because of how efficiently green can mana ramp...that, and I LOVE Manamorphose! Drop a Fervor on an earlier turn, and watch the fuse counters fly! I've actually Wild Pair'd a pair of these in once.
Obviously not something you'd run in a competitive/tourney deck. Definitely casual/EDH only. Far too much creature removal, as well as faster agro decks, for this to contend with, without having to run things like whispersilk cloak.

Two of these. Tap each for 2 counter on one creature. Next turn the upkeep puts two more on it destroying it and hitting opponent for 8. Do this ever turn

I use this with Kulrath Knight not only will it eventually cause creatures to die, it pacifies them.
It's a shame that this card removes all fuse counters and then destroys the creature and deals the four damage. Otherwise, you could ramp a Darksteel Myr up to 4 counters and it would say, OK, destroy it, then deal him 4 damage. It's still around, with 4 counters? OK, destroy it, then deal him 4 damage. It's still around, with 4 counters? OK, etc.

Man, I remember using this card back in the day. Not very good, but pretty fun with plenty of combo potential, so it gets a thumbs up from me.

If this is too slow for you, Paradox Haze and Proliferate have something you might be interested in...

@Self: Would have to give the bombs indestructability, but that's not exceedingly difficult if you're splashing white anyhow.

Does the upkeep ability on this card continue after Bomb Squad is put in the graveyard? Like, it is able to put one token on a creature, then on my turn I destroy Bomb Squad, would my opponent still add a fuse token each upkeep to the creature?

This would be a hilarious target for Followed Footsteps, too.
