Just in case you wanted a *** life gain card in black, you know, as apposed to some of the ridiculous life gain it already has. The only value I see in this card is to block, then activate the ability. Basically stopping one attack and gaining a life, but their are plenty of better abilities than this.

It's a hidden "white" zombie, and it's a bad one! :( Tidehollow Sculler removes cards that would make you lose life from the game, and Putrid Warrior (which is from the same set!) comes with different options, where one of them has you gain one life for free while it's attacking or blocking..

@cats_and_me: "Hidden" is right - unless you stumbled across it, you would have no way to know that you could consider this card for a deck... I don't believe that you can search Gatherer for activation costs.
Not that you should consider it for long, mind you. The most interesting thing about this card is that it is one of the only two cards that can grant lifegain to somebody other than the controller (see also: Orzhov Guildmage; I'm excluding this and this because they cause the same amount of life-loss first).
It's part of a pretty exclusive club, but the reason it's exclusive is that nobody else wants to join. It's just the zombie excitedly chatting away to hide his nervousness while the guildmage sits there trying to think of an excuse to leave.

Why the HECK would you run this over, like, anything!!!!
Worldwake beats the crap out this card.
The only possible reason I can see to run this would be because of the creature type, and I bet that Zombie decks wouldn't be running white, so ....
CAN'T FIGHT THE WORLDWAKE POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it didn't tap, it would be at least half decent. But this is unacceptable.
