Every game I cast this in the pre-release, it won me the game. I'd frequently drop a Silent Departure in the yard and get a bomb into my hand two draws faster than it would have come otherwise.

This served me well at pre-release today. A card and an evader on turn four. Not sure if I would use it in constructed but in limited its very nice.

As someone else said, not quite Sea Gate Oracle, but superior in a more aggressive deck. And with all the flashback swirling around, you may as well be better off with a card in your graveyard than in your hand.

In a design article, Mark Rosewater said that this was part of a cycle of creatures with ETB X effects. This one counted your spirits and let you draw that many cards, keeping one. In the end, tribal was too pervasive in limited, and the X effect was changed to "2" in all instances. While Tower Geist is severely limited by this late adjustment, at least it fairs better than Farbog Boneflinger!

I'm considering running this guy with Heartless Summoning. He's actually cheaper than Sea Gate with Heartless out, and he blocks flyers, which is a pretty big deal in this angel/demons-heavy block.
I love to think of it as three cards Elvish visionary Ponder, AND faithless All around a good card. Almost as good as huntmaster of the fells... ALMOST. So overall give's you: Card choice Blocker/trade Card advantage Block a flyer Reanimater target (supply's/is) And Gives flashbacks... I would run 4... 5/5 stars
