Rhystic Syphon. Same CMC, guaranteed 5 drain, plus an extra ability to make it harder to counter AND tie up your opponents mana if they do counter it. That said, 1.5 because it fits in domain/sunburst/rainbow decks, and because Rhystic's counter ability can backfire since you're basically handing your opponent a colorless Cancel.

This isn't garbage at all. Doing 5 and gaining 5 for 5 cmc isn't amazing, I grant you, but it's good. A domain deck /will/ have it do 5 for 5 though and it isn't going to turn up in any other kinds of decks.

Yet in a Domain deck, it has the same CMC as Last Stand... Granted that I'm assuming the domain deck is using Prismatic Omen, if you don't have the omen then this is more reliable.

It's basically Corrupt except you pay one less colorless, it can't target creatures, and it can be used effectively in more decks than just mono-black. 3/5
