Very interesting, with a unique mechanic that is slightly worse than defender but allows any color to either tap for mana or have a blocker in the skies for cheap. I think this is very well executed.

Interesting - yes indeed.
Best used in control decks I imagine. + I just really Gargoyles.

Dark Ascension gives yet more gargoyles but no scarecrows.

deep sadness occurs.

better than defender in that creature removal doesn't effect it on your turn.

I have a question.
What happens if I make this guy a 5/5 artifact creature using Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas' -1 ability?
Will it return to be a 2/3 Flying creature on each of my opponent's turn? Or will it remain as a 5/5 artifact creature for the rest of the game?

Thanks a lot in advance.

@MarioAlvirez:
If you use Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas's -1 ability, Warden of the Wall will become a 5/5 artifact creature with no type. At the beginning of your opponent's turn, Warden of the Wall will become a 2/3 Gargoyle artifact creature with flying. At the beginning of your turn, I believe it will lose flying, cease being a Gargoyle, and go back to being a 5/5 artifact creature.

I'd think you'd want to be pairing it with your sorcery speed mass removal.
Decks that rely on sweepers do need blockers to delay the need to sweep for maximum card advantage, and this way you have a blocker set up for after (your opponent usually gets a bit of an edge straight after a sweeper because they're the first to play new creatures).
At the very least, it baits their removal, which then won't hit your Consecrated Sphinx.
You can even use it to pay for Day of Judgement, say, in case you're stuck at 3 mana or not worrying about haste creatures.

The problem with all that is that the power level is simply not that high. If it were a 3/4, it could see play. But for a creature that can't attack, it needs to be much stronger, self sweeper resistance aside.

Best compared with, and mostly an improvement on, One-Eyed Scarecrow in limited. It doesn't power down flyers, but it does block them, which is usually more improtant. Not a high pick by any means, but a solid insurance for slower decks that can clog up a board of 2/2s while helping you ramp to your bombs. It does its job. 3/5

Don't underestimate this guy! A 2/3 flying that taps for mana can help you with some expensive cards AND it protects you against 1/1 Flying spirits! For instance, this guy helped me cast Increasing Savagery from my graveyard to do 13 damage to my opponent to win the match.

Does Angel's Tomb work with this card?

Needs an Anthem effect, Favorable Winds perhaps to become 3/4 but spending two turns to set that up would be a bit inefficient. Sounds like it'd be best when blocking then tapping for mana after it hopefully survives the block.. or tap for mana when opponent attacks to give you the mana to play Edit: Savage Surge to buff it and take out an attacker and then tap for mana one more time!
Edit: Remembering that it taps for colourless mana only.
