Given that you don't run any instants or permanents with activated abilities in your deck, this cat is now quite useful with removal of mana burn.

This card is certainly better than previously with removal of mana burn. Thematically it could fit into a red cat deck and be useful to boot. I can't help but think that I would like to put instant in any deck that had this card though, which of course seriously reduces its usefulness. I'm going to have to think if a good use of this card.

By the way, 92 cats, wow! That's a lot of cats. I'm glad all cats got combined into one big subtype. It makes them a cool pseudo-tribe.

6/6 for 5 mana is pretty good if you play your cards right

So... Not only do I get to sink all my mana into Shivan Dragon, but that also gives this cat +3/+3? Sweet. Or I could enchant this with Shiv's Embrace and sink all my mana into it, making one badass kitty.

@ Test-Subject_217601:

You are describing an 8/8 cat. For 9 mana. With Flying. And Firebreathing. Do we even HAVE a name for something that awesome in our mythology!?

Guaranteed to make anybody used to playing with mana burn grumble.

Leave your lands untapped then blow your instants right before combat damage, or sooner if needed.

People that complain about Mana Burn's removal breaking cards like this, then using this as a "good example"... seem to have adjusted too far into the modern plays.
This card is a BAD example of Mana Burn support. Anyone who is going to use this is already designing their deck to take advantage of wanting to dump their mana either early or in one swell foop!
Simple (and obvious) combo:
Cast Scroria Cat, then cast Firebreathing on it. Give it Trample in any way, then solo rush and tap out for an easy 15/15+ smackdown that can face and eat Emrakul, the Aeons Torn with relative ease.
Running Mana Flare just made that even safer. And never subjected the player to any risk of Mana Burn. That massive attack, by the way, would be a turn 5 rush at the very latest.
