It's a good reprint for limited, as little as it is played with core sets.

Functional. Helped me quite a bit at my last draft.

A solid creature in M12 limited. Not exactly a bomb, but its definitely a threat the opponent has to deal with once its out. You may even get a 2-for-1 once in a while since it has trample, forcing the opponent to double-block it to prevent bloodthirst activation. Just watch out for people who play blue, cause bounce can be a pain with this card.
3/5.

This card was made for 1 reason. Limited.

For budget players this is a good level common on par with say the classic staples of old like Serra Angel, Air Elemental, Singer Vampire, and the like. a cmc 4/4 with sudo evasion isn't something to scoff at. Yes he isn't cream of the crop but definitely a threat if he sticks.

I find it interesting how this, a so-so common, plus a couple of Greatswords, some so-so uncommons, can become so useful, despite how much more efficient other cards can be compared to these. This is perhaps one reason I enjoy MTG the most; the fact that even simple/ineffective cards can be game-winners.
The flavor of this would have been so perfect for wizards to break the color pie a little and give it haste.
Sure, green shouldn't get haste, but would a green 4/4 trample haste for 5 really break anything? No. The color pie defines what colors are best at, not what they only do. They could accomplish that by giving limited cards like this minor off-color abilities and it practically wouldn't affect constructed.
