If it would be "equal to number of snow covered lands in play"... it would still suck.

hmmm, 4 cast 4/4 wall doesn't seem too sucky to me, especially when it grows bigger nearly every turn.

Not that bad, but not great. It must have been incredible during the Ice Age.

its one of those cards that nowadays I'll look at and completely forget it has defender.
If you're monoblack, rather than playing this with something that enables defender attacking, might as well just use Nightmare, right?

It's not too bad. Playing snow basics today does not inconvenience you at all, and you get a growing X/X wall. Might be fun in EDH.

Big walls with power have some uses, but people don't tend to like paying 4 or more for a creature that can't attack. Still, this can be pretty big.
Most of all though I love the concept. I themed the enemies for an entire roleplaying game around frozen skeletons back in the day. A glacier of bones is just.. so cool.
Still, screw ice-age, seriously.

At a time when walls weren't very good, this was a decently powerful black deterrent, since it was entirely plausible to run all snow lands. While it can't attack, you can do fun things with this like Soul's Majesty or Fling.
