i cant wait to get my hands on this. this is just down-right dirty. you could say this guy dies to doomblade. but he doesnt have to ha ha. having a constant blocker pretty awesome too. i hated playing against argent sphinx for the same reason.

Not to be confused with Lantern Kami. Compensates for what the M2010 rules change did to Fleeting Image.

I like it. Just don't put any Auras on it.

Might not work with Auras, but it'll always be around to carry a sword.

Nice card, in a very tight control deck this can be your most dangerous threat! So much better than Fleeting Image with the discount in the ability cost! 4/5

Yeah, this guy was an MVP for me at the prerelease. In my blue-black control deck he just saved my life so many times. I didn't even swing with him that often.

He is such a pain to get though in limited. Still, needing to waste 4 mana a turn to recast and bounce him keeps him from being too good.

can your return Lantern Spirit from your graveyard to your hand? i mean, it doesn't strictly say 'in play'. But then again, it doesn't strictly say 'from anywhere'.

This card single-handedly kept me from winning a match in prerelease. Basically became an indestructable blocker. I couldn't even get rid of it with my Evil Clone.

That spirit should put a new light in its lantern. Whenever I play against it, it's always blinking.

Pretty cool with Spiritcraft, i'd say.

Vigor, unless stated otherwise, you can only activate abilities on the Battlefield.

When can you return this to you hand? After blocking, but before damage is assigned? How do you pull the "infinite" blocking off?

So because it states "Return Lantern Spirit to your hand" does that mean I can return a Lantern Spirit from my graveyard to my hand?
A really nifty card to have on a rainy day. Where you just can't seem to draw the cards you need. With its awesome effect, which can be blocked and bounced right back into the owner's hand. He has ok stats with 2/1 flyer but its bouncing costs can get quite expensive and making the card just plain good. But really a good blocker in a tight situation.

Solid card, but you really don't want to have to do the infinite block (block, then bounce during the Declare Blockers step before damage is dealt) if you don't have to. Tying up four mana every turn against an opponent who's actually doing things is a good way to have a slow, frustrating loss. I've been on either side, and it's not fun in the least. Having the ability is a good thing, but the card isn't a bomb.

@yesnomu Unless of course your opponent has three cards left in their deck, you have eight mana and two of these puppies.

I run a spirit deck that focuses on a few of these and oyobi... the combo has yet to be broken

Practically unkillable with Drogskol Captain on the battlefield. Even if your opponent has bigger creatures, this'll happily chump block them for an eternity.

I like having the option to have a chump blocker every turn, and also to be able to save a creature from board wipes.

Flavor: you snuff the lantern out when you return it.
