It's interesting with Dega Sanctuary backing it up.

I know recurring burn is good, but this seems crappy. Can anyone explain why i would not only pay twice as much life as damage, but mana as well? I know it can take out creatures that sit back and do something, but still, this is way to expensive for a measly one damage. Good flavor though.

It's good for the same reason Mortarpod is good. Why would you pay a 2 mana equip and sac a creature for one damage? Because sometimes one damage is worth an extra cost.

I think this card would be much more playable without having to sink {1} in with each activation..as is it's still playable. Being able to burn something (even if its painful, such as burning an x/3 creature for {3} and 6 life) at instant speed is always useful.

Without either other cost, this would be too good.

Without the mana 1, this would say, "if an opponent is at a little less than half your life, you may make him lose the game." Which is on a 4 cost enchantment?

Without the 2 life, this would only require R and B and be about as good as red burn as the game continues, (less cost efficient but only using one card.)

Maybe if it said 1 life or 2 damage or something :) but not removing the costs.

If you're using it just for creature removal, I'd rather play a few Fire Covenants in my deck.

If you are playing RB and caring about your own life total you are doing it wrong. Since you already run 4 Terminates and some other removal cards you don't have to blast your lives on fatties and you can just keep the table clear of tokens with this. Also it is awesome when your opponent forgets that this can target players too and you pay 12 life to get him dead right when he thought he got his defence ready against my rakdos aggro.
Horribly underrated card. Not game-winning but really solid.
