At first I was all like "Oh, cool! A white Elvish Warrior!"

Then I remembered about Veteran Armorsmith. :-/

I just don't see the point. We're they specifically looking for a creature type that wasn't supported?

HORSE HOOVES.

FOUR HOOVES TO EVERY HORSE.

SINGULAR: "HOOF".

PLURAL: "HOOVES".

HORSE HOOVES.

It's friday afternoon, you need to go to the beer store before it closes, but you have one more creature to create before you're allowed to leave.. Armored Warhorse is born...

It should have banding.

It's still a decent 2 drop. It's not flashy, it won't win any games, but if your running against a creature-spamming haste deck that intends to deal all of its damage in 1's and 2's, it stops the enemy pretty well, and with a few enchantments its not really that bad, all things considered.

While dull as anything and inferior to the Armorsmith, I can't help but compare this to Pearled Unicorn, which was the best white got in the common slots so many years ago. At least the Unicorn hasn't been reprinted... ugh!

Yeesh. Remember when 2 for a 2/3 was considered good?

Anything that kills Goblin Piker and Coral Merfolk is okay in my book. I hate those pieces of crap.

Why couldn't there be a knight riding the horse?

@alucard311: So it's an Armored Werehorse?

Hey guys, who remembers how freaking awesome it was when they previewed/announced Watchwolf? It was awesome then and it's still kind of awesome now. Plus you get it at common. 4/5

Before creature types meant much, a 2/3 two-drop was a good deal. It's still not terrible.

If an Elvish Warrior were to turn into an animal, I'd think it would turn into something like a sheep or a goat since it has those horns already... I guess this one is the Onslaught Elvish Warrior.

Know how I know you're 12?

What's the nearest "beer store" and why does it close so early on a night that people are very likely to buy beer?

White's response to Green's Garruk's Companion. Powercreep in action on core set common level. This would have been extremely good some years ago. It's good even now.

Good in Limited only.

Talking about power creep, just look at the evolution:
1) Limited Edition Alpha: Pearled Unicorn - 2/2 for 3 CMC
2) Portal: Regal Unicorn - 2/3 for 3 CMC
3) Magic 2012: Armored Warhorse - 2/3 for 2 CMC.

Yup, nothing wrong with this guy, love the 2/3 for 2; it simply won't see much constructed play. Missing any abilities and not supporting any tribal, it's hard to find a spot for it. A blank 2/2 human or soldier for the same cost would be more likely to see use in a deck despite missing the toughness (see Walking Corpse for an example of this).

Still, not sure they could have justified too much more for the cost. Adding power, toughness, first strike, trample, or vigilance for the same cost probably would have been a bit much. Perhaps something innocuous like Plainswalk though; would have been flavorful and not really pushed it over I think.

Call me crazy but i prefer this to Garruk's Companion and ill tell you why. The companion swings and dies to almost anything, very rare for a 2 drop to have less then 2 power nowa days, and allot of 1 drops can take down a bear. You can swing with this dude without worry in the early game, which is what you want for weenie. Trading and dealing 1 pt of damage is not what you want for an aggro deck. Now garruk is better to buff in most cases, but any aura// equipment paints a big target on him so its not really a valid argument.

This just makes me want to see something along the lines of: "When a human enters the battlefield under your control you may put it on top of Armored Warhorse. If you do, they become a human knight creature with power and toughness equal to the combined power and toughness of the two stacked creatures."

It's a bit clunky, but it could work as some sort of tribal variation to soulbond.
