If you open a nice mythic than it is good having a way to go find it. But I normally wouldn't play this in a more strait forward limited deck. It is only worth the tempo loss if you have something that will win in a few turns once you cast it.

Would 1BB make it too good? The last time this saw play was Odyssey block, where the mana is less of an issue because of the brokenness of Cabal Coffers.

I always thought this card was really good. I ran four in my Esper Deck. But I realized I was never using them, I always left them on my sideboard. Still good in EDH though. I like to think of it as a "wild card." It can be anything you want it to be. 4*

Kind of too much mana, but I run them in combo decks that rely on a card which is too expensive for a playset. Of course, people love to counter this spell. Ah, why must I always be torn between making a deck good against counters and making a deck fast?
My friend pointed out to me that the picture looks like the skeleton is telling a funny joke to the mage. Now I can't un-see it

I love this card. It's a great card in terms of mechanics and balancing and it lets me liberally drop one-ofs into my casual decks. That said, flavor failure. No life loss, no discard, no alternate cost at all? How is that Black? Should be White. Call it Divine Inspiration and forget this whole mess ever happened.
