The color pie and you: White cards hit the board, blue cards hit the stack, black cards hit the hand, red cards hit people, and green cards don't hit because it's not nice.

Perfect card. All you need in a board sweeper... anything bigger than 2 damage is what spot removal is for. Says not so fast to ww and can stop decks like boros/kuldotha in their tracks. Goodbye earthquake.
"if this card did 3 damage instead of 2, it would be better than Urza's Rage as opposed just 'as good as'."

Great card, has saved me several times from goblins and aggro decks. Instant speeds gives it a nice versatility and 2 damage kills a lot of creature types. (Elves, Goblins, Etc...)

if this card did 3 damage instead of 2, it would be better than Urza's Rage as opposed just 'as good as'. (less damage to player, hits you, but more R in the mana cost?)
EDIT: ok, I know Urza's Rage can be played much later for tons of damage, but that doesn't come up very often. Anyway, they actually freaking did make the card I was imagining in Mirrodin Besieged. Slagstorm. If Slagstorm had been an uncounterable Instant, like Volcanic Fallout, then it would have become the new 'final solution' premier Red Burn Spell, rivaled only by Lightning Bolt, and even then only situationally. Actually, probably not. It would just be the best, hand's down.

Instant
Cardname cannot be countered.
Deal 3 damage to each creature and each player.
Might as well call it Sauron's Mace and be done with it.

Volcanic Fallout is the best at what it does, simple as that. It can find a use even when it doesn't come up against mass token decks or counter decks. Sure it's ineffective at a certain point (protection from red, multiple intangible virtues out, creatures that want to be killed, etc.), but then all cards are. When it does shine though, it makes its mark. In a minority of situations, Slagstorm is going to be better (you need to do 3 damage to every creature instead of 2, or you need only to damage players). Otherwise, the instant speed on this is far superior. And icing on the cake? You can redirect the damage to planeswalkers.
(And if you want to get around creatures with protection abilities and 3+ toughness, Sudden Spoiling.)

If they reprint this again, it will be Fallout 3. Fallout 3 is a great game. Therefore this card is great. QED.
DacenOctavio: green cards hit the face. Tarmogoyf's the best beater in town.

@DacenOctavo: green cards hit stuff. Green does artifact and enchantment destruction, as well as a bit of land destruction. Also, green cards boost creatures so they can hit harder.

I don't always run Pyroclasm in my burn decks, but when I do, I prefer it to be uncounterable and smash face at instant speed.

This card does everything right. Instant speed, can't be countered (which is what red really needs) and damages players as well as creatures. An easy 5/5. I would also say perfectly balanced. More cards like this please!

For 1 more red mana compared to pyroclasm, you get instant speed, can't be countered, and it hits players (not ALWAYS good, but it's probably more good than it is bad).
I love this card. So awesome.

The amount of decks where this sweeps everything but a tarmogoyf or knight of the reliquary in legacy is pretty staggering. It can even chew up a planeswalker pretty good!

Not sure if I like this as much as Anger of the Gods though.
