Reasonably basic card overall; neutralize your opponent's creature or create a fantastic defender of your own. However, for something much more useful, use it conjunction with Merfolk Thaumaturgist for a lethal combo.

It can help creatures withstand burn, neutralize the power of evasive attackers, be a strong offensive tool with Doran, allow for a repeated kill combo with Dwarven Thaumaturgist or just serve as a mana sink.
I used to use this as a kid with Dwarven Thaumaturgist. It was one of the first "combos" I came up with, and whenever I got it going I would be so damn proud. You couldn't stop me from grinning. Ah, good times... :)

One of my first cards, and an all-star that nobody knew about. This card messes up combat, prevents damage, occasionally kills a creature if you're playing with thaumaturgists. It's a fine utility card that is maybe a little too demanding of your mana. But even with its flaws, it is still worth a slot.
