Would I sacrifice an artifact to wreck my opponent's board position? Yes, yes I would. :D

I always love Raymond Swanland's art, especially the fire-creature art. I almost want to build some sort of monored deck using only creatures with his flashy art. =p
Well, red never exactly was about card advantage, but at least it's (A) optional to sacrifice and (B) it's 4 damage you can (C) divide among both creatures and players. Wow. Wait, let me take back the comment about card advantage. Anything that gives you a 4/4 body in red and lets you 4-for-1 somebody is playable in my deck. And, it's lovely art by Raymond Swanland.

I was just considering putting this into my artifact sac deck. My only hesitation was its 6 CMC. Every other card in my deck works at 5 or under and it worries me to run 6. Nonetheless, just about every other sacrifice card I have, since I'm not using Kuldotha rebirth, is predictable.
If I have Furnace Celebration out, Piston Sledge on my Embersmith and a Perilous Myr sitting there, it's pretty obvious that I'm probably going to sac the myr, pay 2, deal 4 damage and swing for 5 assuming I obliterated my opponents creatures.
On the other hand, if I'm being beat, I have 6 mountains, an iron myr and a spellbomb, a graveyard full of my sacrifice creatures, embersmiths and other combo-building permanents you might not expect me to drop a 4/4, wipe your field and draw a card. Though you might if you knew my deck.
The point I'm getting to is that I've found this card to be more useful than I initially thought. On top of that, the art is just gorgeous. I wanted to put it in so badly just because of that.
I really hope wizards prints a red rare in the next set that involves artifact sacrificing in some way. My deck just wants a good rare to keep it company...

I concur, Raymond Swanland's art has got to be my favorite, and this card only corroborates the widely-held theory that his flames make all other artists' flames gutter and die out.

I splish-splashed blue/white specifically so I could play Venser in 1 of my decks. It incl 2 of This guy + 4 ichor wellspring + 2 cerebral eruption. Once the combo is in full effect, doing 6-8 damage & drawing 1-2 extra cards per turn is amazing. I'm so proud of myself as deckbuilding hasn't been one of my strongpoints since the days of revised & fallen empires! The game changed so much while I was on a long mtg break & when I came back I continuously got my @$$ handed to me over & over again. Until now. I'm back. HAHAHAHA I'M BAAACK! And I'm coming for the throne. See you soon,... THRONE!

Pure finisher. I LOVE this. Absolute bomb in limited and pretty good in constructed. It's basically a better version of Slice and Dice considering the set it's in. If you can't make a good sac deck in this set, you really are not trying hard enough.
In limited this is an absolute beast. I ran a sac theme along side Myr propagator (Czar of the stall in limited), Molder Beast, & Fangren Marauder. Total overkill, but I I swept their field, jumped molderbeast up to a 17/3 trample, and gained 20 life.
5/5 For the devastation this can cause, and the epic artwork

Friendly reminder: Unless you plan on doing tricks with artifacts, Inferno Titan would almost always be a better choice. The titan essentially gets +2/+2, firebreathing, and constant 3 damage each attack. The Flamefiend is solid, but the Titan is good!

A primary point of the "Raymond Swanland art makes an otherwise meh card wonderful." This is true- look at Giant Scorpion and Necrogen Scudder. Who cares how good the card is. LOOK AT THE FLAMES ON IT! THEY ARE MESMERIZING!

Perhaps too expensive, but a useful card nonetheless. Lots of things trigger on artifact sacrifice in block, and in draft, that's a lot of removal to go around.
Anyone who compares this to Inferno Titan needs a hot poker shoved up their rear, though. The Titans shall not be mentioned around these parts.

It's a pretty good card but for whatever reason I feel like it should have flash...
