Seems pretty good. Black does have the best life gain of any color, so this is hardly a downside if you build with it in mind.

Sigh, another case of "when good art happens to bad cards."

Deathcurse ogre, is that you? Are you a dog now? Are you slightly more powerful, but still not too popular on the gatherer?

I might consider drafting this in a a non-infect black deck running cards like Necrogen Scudder.. maybe as a one-of.

May not be great, but it will be fun in kitchen-table games. Go ahead and drop this while an opponent has 4 life or less, watch the fun ensue.
I don't think Spike players will find this very useful, though.

its a great card if you have a sangromancer on the field (only if it kills something though) or you equip a sylvok lifestaff to it (or both! Then you might actually make a net life gain!). It is also guaranteed to cause life point damage one way or the other.
Strictly worse than just about everything, especially the Blistergrub this seems to be designed after.

Wow overcosted much? I wouldn't use this at 4B much less a 6 casting cost. Fodder for the common pile, another good artwork design casualty to a bad card.

Terrible card. Terrible, terrible, terrible card. Bad in any deck.
But the beautiful art and flavor text that just brings a smile to my face? It pleases the collector in me that I own a foil playset.

I try to see the good in all things.
This is an actually legitimate card in multiplayer. Maybe. if you can run it off of Sol Ring on turn 4?
'legitimate card' still doesn't really mean 'good' though
like 'I wouldnt last pick this' isn't the same as 'unplayable' ... :/

Would have been sexy with haste. Actually, why doesn't it have haste? It's a dog running full speed.. Also much much better in multiplayer. Knocking off 16+ life with a single card is fun.

Too expensive, but fits Black very well and can definitely give an opponent pause for thought.
Would have preferred it's life loss to have been larger than it's attack, so that an opponent would have to chose between being hit and getting acid all over their face.

I believe Plague Dogs from Urza's Destiny was the inspiration for such a card.

I don't know about all of the problems with this. As Phyrexian Mana showed us, as long as you're the one to gain more than your opponent, it doesn't matter how much life you lose. Even if you have 1 life left, you don't lose until you have 0. Dark Confidant, Phyrexian Arena, Dismember, and Yawgmoth's Bargain showed us that.
Obviously only playable in Limited, this creature is by no means useless. A 4/4 in black is not very common, and your opponents have to watch out when they're low on life. If they close to 4 life and you had this attacking, do you think they won't hesitate to block?
However, you obviously have to be careful. This card is decent when you're ahead. Otherwise, it could completely backfire.

Especially terrible in a mono-white deck.

I feel this would be more playable if when it died, TARGET player or target OPPONENT or EACH OPPONENT loses 4 life rather than hitting you for 4 in the face as well
