Terrible by today's standards, but halfway playable for its time. Way back when, getting any sort of multi-color lands was frustrating.

I like the Ice Age untap lands like Land Cap better, because with right cards (like Power Conduit) you can move the depletion counter off them to better use.

You know.....looking at certain land cycles make a lot of the busted cards in history 'explainable'. -_-

They thought they needed to make Mono-colored decks way better....because Two-color was supposed to be flatly unplayable....and then....they made like, one good dual land cycle after the Alpha ones.....Onslaught Fetch Lands.....and then MAGIC blew up XD

(there were a lot of busted cards in the time between Alpha-Onslaught....but you can notice we've been getting much less busted cards the more they make the Lands balanced, but good.)

If you're looking for a functional reprint that's Modern legal, check out Lantern-Lit Graveyard.

...

Yeah, I don't get either why they'd reprint this cycle.
(Especially since they didn't have a take on enemy colored slowlands yet. Seriously, why didn't they do these in Kamigawa instead? That's one of the only dual land cycles that nobody cares about when they get a functional reprint.)

For whoever is wondering why they didn't print the enemy version of this land in Kamigawa: because they thought at that time that enemy colours should have been more difficult to play than ally colours. In fact there wasn't a single cycle of enemy colour land, with the exception of Apocalypse lands. You can see it clearly with Tempest lands: they printed something like Caldera Lake, that is much worse than IceAge painlands. It was like they put every possible drawback in these lands... And actually it was only from recent times that they go for balancing every colour pairs in lands... This fact always ***ed me, because I always liked enemy colour pairs, like BlueRed and WhiteBlack, more that ally colour pairs! Come on! Please complete this cycle, the refugee, the manland, and the others!

As for this cycle, I find those lands quite playable, at least for budget. They come into play untapped, you can use them already, if you topdeck them they aren't a problem. Just, don't play 2 or 3 playset in the same deck, because they could become annoying if you need to add coloured mana every turn. They aren't an automatic 4x, but I think that it's a nice thing: you have to actually think when you build your deck. I think that if R&D wants to limit 3+ colour deck, they have to print this (whole) cycle, M10/Innistrad land and/or painlands, because none of them are automatically 4x and aren't easy to play in a 3colour deck.
