Seems like it would have been better to be a free effect for one or two life.

Proper burial does the same better.

Pathetic really, guess i know what to expect 14th pick in limited. Proper Burial is somewhat decent though. 1/5

Just imagining this in a control deck filled with cheap mana producers, or even tokens. I guess that after a few turns, you could be gaining 8-10 life a turn... not bad for casual/multiplayer game. But then second thought arose - its hard to win games when you spend all your mana not to lose.
Bad card indeed. Put the ability onto a 2/2 cleric for WW and we have a decent card.

Should have been the guy holding Cathodion or Myr Moonvessel.

Yeah, even with those cards, Proper Burial does the same thing. Unless you can sacrifice creatures for mana, and include that ability with this card and token producers, there's no point to this card.

It's possible to stall games with it and some support in limited... unless your opponent got some infect, or some luck, or some brains... nah, it's 1/5, not more

But... there are no Dwarves on Mirrodin!

Only those who are free from Phyrexian corruption can see the value of this card.

I run this in my infinite mana myr deck. Very fun in situations there :)

Infinite Mana with a Myr Deck.
If someone kills one of your Myrs, then tada.

As a card, it sucks. But in terms of flavor, I like it. The flavor text is just so depressing and it kinda makes you feel bad for the Mirrans.

People are thinking too small. This is obviously a combo card. Who the hell would you play this card in a mono white lifegain deck!?

Think people! What about a deck that wants your cards to hit the graveyard? Evoke? Maybe combine with black recursion? Things that die on their own like Aven Rif***cher? This could give you infinite life if you have a way of getting infinite mana. Maybe combo with Sanguine Bond? This triggers life gain effects like Ajani's Pridemate. You could get some nice lifegain with Boon Reflections as well.

I dunno. Maybe I'm overrating this card. I just hate it when people dismiss cards like these as "crap" or "useless" without considering all the shinanegans that they could pull. I'm sure that this lifegain spell has some hidden advantage that other lifegain spells do not. I'm positive that this is another hidden gem that is waiting to be polished.

While it doesn't look great up front, I'm sure that somebody will make this card awesome. I'll give this a 3/5.

In draft, it's no good. And building a deck around it just ensures that you spend a whole lot of mana to gain life... if I had a whole lot of mana, I would rather kill my opponent with it.

@majinara: My 1/1 Myr dies and I have no instants and 5 mana open. Proper Burial gives me 1 life, and this gives me 5. 1 is SMALLER than 5. This is better in decks with instants, but I'd usually take this instead.

If you've got mana open, it's a great place to put it. 3.5/5
